Hello, Linda.

You are worrying needlessly. HIV is a fragile virus and it doesn't get transmitted from environmental surfaces  or objects nor by touch. It wouldn't matter if it was fresh blood that you touched with your hand. It's still not a risk.

I hope your English is good enough for you to read our lesson on Transmission. There's a link to it in the Welcome thread which opens this section. The most important thing you need to know is that HIV is transmitted through unprotected vaginal or anal intercourse. That's what you need to remember and if you are having intercourse you make sure the man is always wearing a condom.

This time you have no cause for concern about that incident with your sister.

Cheers.

Linda

As Andy has already told you, you are worrying needlessly, once blood is exposed to the air it dries out and is rendered harmless, trust us you did not have a risk.

Please read the Welcome Thread and follow the lessons on how HIV is and isn't tranmitted.

Linda,

Hiv is a very fragile virus. Once it's outside the body, small changes in temperature, moisture content and pH levels all quckly damage the outer covering and render it unable to infect.

You did not have a risk. Even if the blood was fresh, you would not have had a risk. Hiv does not have to dry out to become harmless.

You can stay hiv negative yourself by making sure you use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly, every time, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple. Read through all three condom and lube links in my signature line so you know how to use them correctly.

Halt! Stop! Listen to what you are reading here! You need to take some good slow breaths in and out right now. I'm not kidding. All you are doing is allowing your fears to run away with you.

You have absolutely no basis in HIV science to be worried about this incident. HIV is not passed from clothing, doorknobs or other objects. It just doesn't happen that way, even when there is a lot of blood.

We keep telling you there was no risk and you keep coming back telling us how much blood there was.

Listen!!!!!

Linda,

We're telling you the truth. We want to help catch hiv infections, not miss them. You didn't have a risk for hiv infection when you washed your sisters underpants. No way, no how.

Linda,

I deleted a post you made in someone else's thread. Please do not post in any thread but this one. If you've read the Welcome Thread like you're supposed to, you will have read the following posting guideline:

Quote
Only those Moderators and members who are authorized to answer questions in the Am I Infected? forum are permitted do so. Unauthorized responses may be deleted without permission of the poster. Repeatedly posting replies of this nature may result in a Time Out or permanent ban, at the discretion of the Moderator Team.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Viruses, including hiv, are not "alive" in the normal sense - they are active or inactive. Hiv is a very fragile virus that quickly becomes damaged and inactivated when outside its preferred environment of the human body.

You've been told repeatedly that you were not in any danger of hiv infection when you washed your sister's underpants. Successful hiv infection normally occurs INSIDE the body, as in unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse. It cannot be transmitted from objects in the environment, including clothing.

When you read the Welcome thread, there is another posting guideline you need to pay attention to:

Quote
Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to a four week Time Out (a temporary ban from the Forums). If you continue to post excessively after one Time Out, you may be given a second Time Out which will last eight weeks. There is no third Time Out - it is a permanent ban. The purpose of a Time Out is to encourage you to seek the face-to-face help we cannot provide on this forum.

Please consider yourself warned.

Linda,

NO, you do not need to test over this. You've been told repeatedly that you had no risk, why would you test over it?

You only need to test if you've been having unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse with anyone whose hiv status you don't know.

If you keep posting the same questions over and over about this NO RISK incident, you will be given a time out. This is your last warning.

No, you do not need to test. You've been told several times that you were not at risk.

This is all about your fears and feelings. There is absolutely no basis in HIV science for you to be concerned, even with your wound on your hand.

No risk and no testing needed. Period. Ann has warned you. If you continue to return with this same unwarranted worry, you are going to get a 30 day time out.

Linda,

You have been repeatedly told that hiv cannot infect once it's outside the body. Presumably you washed your sister's underwear in water with soap in it? There's absolutely NO WAY you'd become infected from this.

I'm giving you that time out you've been warned about. Do not attempt to create a new account to get around your time out because if you do, you will be permanently banned.
