Title: worrying
Post by: mosquito on July 20, 2008, 05:28:25 am
STRANGE situation
hi
i am writing this with immense sadness
i am sharing an apartment(one room actually) with a hiv positive person. a great guy.
day before yesterday after i came back from work... there was no power ...

i am also a part time singer... anyway.... i was doing my breathing exercises and i swallowed a mosquito. yes a mosquito i was doing heavy breathing inhale and exhale.. and it just went in. DIRECTLY IN MY THROAT.....there was no mouth contact i felt the dang thing directly in my throat.,......i tired to spit...but i dont know if it came out... dint see anything in the spit....and was was complaning all day about mosquitos biting him.
my question is if
A) the mosquoito had bitten my rommie and then i swallowed it ....is that a risk?(BEARING in mind that the pouch where the mosquito stores the sucked blood exploded in my stomach, throat, digestive system or anywhere inside my body.)
there are some mosquitos issues in our apartment. i am really worried now
dint find any info on this...
IS this a risk? i am worried about the blood filled pouch of the mosquoto in my mouth...
what are my chances.... it can be fresh blood which went into my stomach/throat/anywhere in my body from a hiv positive person. i havent told him about my concert yet... cause he has been really down after loosing his job.
B) do i need to seek a doc
i am going numb here
Please help me

Mosquitoes don't transmit HIV. Go to the "Welcome" thread and click on the link to transmission.

thankyou rapid for your response
yes i know rapid... but i dint get bitten by one i swollowed one. and thats worrying me.....i dint side in my mouth but possibly my stomach or throat...which is always red due to singing .
i know that mosquito bites are not infectious ..but here i am talking about Swollowing a mosquito...without breaking its body.... hence i am worried about the pouch which grows big after sucking the blood and it exploding in my body.
do i need to worrie?
i am feeling really nervous

Absolutely not

Mos,

The only way you will get hiv from your roommate is if you two have unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse with each other, or if you share needles when doing injectable drugs.

If you do decide to have intercourse with your roomie, use a condom and you'll have no problems. Check out the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

Insects cannot transmit hiv. That's why it's called HUMAN immunodeficiency virus. Only humans can transmit it.

i don't know where to begin
Please read carefully...
today afternoon my roomie(who is positive) went to the toilet
we are living in india and here we wash our anus/feces/ass with hand and water after shitting.
my rommie went to the toilet today. and our  wash basin to wash hands after shitting is located in other room. while he came out and was going to the basin...his hands were wet from washing is anus(only with water)he just came out of the toilet and he was heading towards the basin to wash it with soap (his hands i mean)
while he was going there BEFORE HE WASHED HIS HANDS WITH SOAP ...he whipped his hand in the air really fast..dont know how to explain (to drain the water from his hand) and a couple of drops from his hand went directly in my EYE.......................GOD KNOWS if he had also masturbated or something.. and his semen was still on his hands and while he whipped his hands and  it went in my eye....thinking of worst case scenario.
this all happened within a time frame of 30 seconds

please help me.
his feces/semen has come directly in contact with my eye/eyeball..with a gap of possibly 30 seconds.
am i at risk
your answers would really help

Mos,

How about YOU read carefully?

The only way you will get hiv from your roommate is if you two have unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse with each other, or if you share needles when doing injectable drugs.

Remember when I said that to you a week or so ago? I meant it. Him flicking water after washing his hands after going to the toilet does not constitute a risk for hiv infection even if he did have a wank first.

And if you've read the Transmission Lesson like you're supposed to, you'd already know that feces is not infectious.

thanks Ann but i am back...
 am i insane  or logical?
i have been reading a lot about hiv since i am living with a positive person.
here's what happened...
while he talks he spits saliva...   today as we were discussing our bills etc... he joked and laughed really loudly...and  his spit went straight in my eye... it happened  twice... i was not worried earlier but then he has GUM issues and he BLEEDS every morning when he brushes bad gums...
so there is a possibility of some blood mixed with saliva going directly in my eye. and THAT SCARES ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yesterday too he came to talk to me just after i finished shaving and i have some cuts on my cheeks and chin due to new blade...and same thing happened yesterday....he spits on my cheeks...and pretty wet too. i wiped it( it was Kinna visibly red with visible cuts and was bleeding just two Min's back due to  shaving )...he said sorry and we continued..
i  call  the local helpline...and no one is there... apparently they only work from 9 to 4.
DO i need to test?
DO i need PEP?
over the spit and the shaving incident
thousands of thoughts are coming my way
Please help

mos,

NO! You do NOT NEED PEP!

I'll say it one more time - The only way you will get hiv from your roommate is if you two have unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse with each other, or if you share needles when doing injectable drugs.

Maybe you should think about living elsewhere. Your constant paranoia about hiv cannot be very pleasant for your roommate to live with.

Mozzie,

Your girlfriend was not at risk from touching your roomie's hanky. It doesn't matter if she had a cut on her finger or not.

There are only two things you need to do, and they are important ones:

1) You need to re-read what has been said to you and also read our lesson on transmission. And really read it and re-read so that you can understand how foolish and unfounded your worries are about infection.

2) If you can't stop with this uinfounded worrying then you ought to see a counselor or other professional to talk about your fears.

We can't help you with that.

Mos,

I swallowed a mosquito, water from my roomates hands touched me, my girlfriend touched the hankie of a positive person.....  Wow, this world seems to be too dangerous for you to handle!....

Seriously, if you are living in this state of complete paranoia about HIV, you should seek some counseling.
You have to driving those around you crazy!
