Hello everyone. Im 41 years old living in center city Phildelphia. As im getting older im getting lonely. I'd love to meet some other positive guys in the Philadelphia area. I literally have guys talk to me for 5-10 minutes then when they find out im on disabilty abruptly end the conversation by walking away. I am terrified of being old poor and alone. When I first tested positive I wanted to survive. Now I don"t know what im going to do with the rest of my life.

Hey Philly,  I lived in Philadelphia most for 30 yrs and first tested HIV positive in 1987. I moved to Georgia just a year ago. When I was still in Philadelphia Mazzoni Center had some support group meetings for long term survivors on a weekday afternoon. There was also a chapter of SIN Philadelphia (a Yahoo Group) who had outings, and t-dances. I know my info is a year old but I'll bet there are similar things going on. If you like please email me.

Good Luck!

I live in Philly, centrally located. If you want to meet up for coffee/dinner or what not send me a message. There is also a long-term survivor group that has been meeting at Philly Fight since 2005 -- small group of 8-10 of us so you won't feel overwelmed.

But like Habersham stated there are also other options -- Mazzoni and SIN. Not sure why you're have a hard time meeting others your age or roundabouts. If you're still doing the "bar thing" then that's probably the issue.

its been a long time since I've posted here. it's been since POZmeds took over the site. I suspect it's was 82, had a very rough conversion reaction. Free testing didn't come out f here until 84.

It's been a rough ride... That's poetic justice for you cause that's how I got this.

Hello to all those kind members who helped me out back then.

Well look, I offered to meet you folks -- I'll offer again. I'm like way less scary in person than I am on the board -- PROMISE! We can do a round or two of cocktails, or if you don't drink alcohol I know a couple of hip coffee spots in the anti-Starbucks vein. I live in the Passyunk Square area but I'm a mere two subway stops from Center City.

Also, I have attended a nice support group geared towards long-term survivors so if that applies to you and you'd like to show up I can give you the information. It meets monthly in Center City convenient to public transportation.

At any rate, there's tons of things for pozzies in Filthydelphia so no reason to sit at home and lack in support. It's all about making the effort because nobody is going to do it for you.

And that is a very open and kind offer folks remember read the tag line-----celebraty poster, poseur and faker-----the above I suspect is nearer the real thing. Mostly. Though I would keep off the subject off loved Pets.
