Title: Am I at risk of HIV- Please clarify.
Post by: kr on July 09, 2011, 09:58:42 am
Hi,

This is a great forum...Last week, I met unknown female (this is the first encounter) in the train and then she came to my apartment..our intentions was to freak out...but to be on safer side bought latex condom (durex)....then  she did mastrubate me with out using condum..later on, I had used my condom  and she came on top of me and inserted for less than mintue...since before she did mastrubation, I immediately ejaculated while the condum was on...my worry is that even though I have ejacuated inside the condum is there any possibility that her vaginal fluids might have gone inside the condum putting me at risk. later on went bathroom and checked...condum didn't broke....even tested with water there was no leakage...

one other thing..i wore my underwear and I was no top of her while we were cuddling...I am worried that vagina fluids might have contacted my penis through my underwear?

I am worried if I am at risk...

kr,

You did all you need to do in order to protect your negative hiv status - you wore a condom for intercourse.

Hiv is a fragile, difficult to transmit virus that is primarily transmitted INSIDE the human body, as in unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse where the virus never leaves the confines of the two bodies.

Once outside the body, small changes in temperature, and pH and moisture levels all quickly damage the virus and render it unable to infect. For this reason, activities such as mutual masturbation, transferring fluids from the hands to the condom while putting it on, and having fluids seep through your underwear are not risks.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED TO TEST SPECIFICALLY OVER ANYTHING YOU BRING TO US, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. IT REALLY IS THAT SIMPLE!!!

kr,

You have not had a risk for hiv infection and do not need to test for hiv after taking part in any of the activities you describe.

We recommend that any sexually active person has a full sexual health care check up at least once a year, including but not limited to hiv testing. As long as you have not had unprotected intercourse with ANYONE in the past three months, you can go for a check up at any time and the results will be conclusive.
