On June 5th i made the biggest mistake of my life by having sex with a low profile sex worker. I was my first sex lasting 1 min and it was protected(condom did not break it was intact on my penis no leakage) Since that very moment I had realized that it was a huge mistake and i regret it a lot. I was really stressed since the very day.
I was suffering from flu which had started on June 4(a day earlier to sex) which subsided after 9 days. I had mucus on my throat during the flu.
Six days post exposure i had a sore throat(red blisters on the back of throat) which has lasted a week(still not clear) and swollen lymph nodes on my neck 2 days after(this convinced me that i've contracted HIV.) I have felt fatigued and i feel sick. I've not seen any rash or fever(max oral temp 99)
I had started searching the symptoms from the next day(almost everything) which had scared me a lot..I cry everyday of what i had done. I've heard that protected sex is INDEED PROTECTED..but why those symptoms...and only 6 days post exposure...Please help!!!! I should have never done such a foolish mistake.

Hi Slash , you didn't have an exposure to HIV engaging in protected sex and if this incident is your only concern then you do not have HIV .
We do not discuss symptoms because they are not specific to HIV . If I were you I would go to the doctor and find out why I'm sick ... but its not HIV .
To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.
ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED HIV TESTING AT THIS TIME for this incident , anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.
If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.
Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

No you dont have hiv. You just got some flu or viral infection. Just take it easy and keep on using condom.

Further information:It was my one and only sexual intercourse.
I've got couple of more questions regarding it if you don't mind.
1)I know that sex with a condom is safe. I just wanted to know what it looks like when a condom breaks. I am pretty much sure that that it was intact on my penis didn't notice any large holes or anything like that and there was no visible leak, semen was inside the condom. it was intact. Are there smaller holes that are not noticeable.?? Can u be infected while taking the condom out of the penis??
2)My sore throat started on the sixth day and swollen lymph nodes on the neck on 9th day post exposure. today is 13th day and sore throat is almost clear but the lymph nodes(multiple) are still swollen on the neck(slight pain). I have been on extreme anxiety and depression since the day of exposure(I've cried at times due to fear of HIV). I've lost 4 pounds in 1 week. Can depression and stress make you loose weight? I've had no fever and no rashes,no diarrhea, very mild headache and mild fatigue only. In addition to that I've noticed slight liver pain at times(upper right abdomen)
Do they reassemble ARS??Does ARS cause urinary problems?? I know that you said it was a low risk exposure but still sore throat and the swollen lymph nodes make me think I've contracted HIV?? I am too much scared.

Hi Slash , condoms are designed to fail catastrophically , meaning they shred when broken so there is no doubt .
HIV isn't as easy to transmit as most seem to think and there are specific things that have to happen to become infected and removing a condom isn't one of them . If removing a condom was in any way a risk for HIV then it would not be considered a tool to prevent infections , it would be a hazard .
As I told you before we do not discuss symptoms because to do so would be a guessing game with your health . If you are sick you need to see a doctor because something is going on and its not HIV because you didn't have a risk .
