Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

Scared after risky handjob

Hello !

I got a handjob from a sexworker in africa during my travel. She first masturbated herself and then immediately began to masturbate me. She did this in a more or less brutal way and rubbed the glans, tip of penis and urethra opening first quite hard. She also touched me there woth one of her fingernails. But I didn't bleed. Finally she drank my sperm, which mades me doubt on her HIV status.

Four days later I went to a local hospital with pain and inflammation on my penis. They diagnosed gonorrhoea, chlamydia and trichomonads and put me on antibiotics.
Back at home I also had to get a fungal treatment.

So now and because of the other infections and treatments (very hard to support), I am scared that I may have HIV too. So she must have had these infections too and I could have got in contact with her discharge, vaginal secretions and so on. what if she also had some menstruation blood on her hands, even if I could not notive blood directly.

What do you think about HIV? Should I go testing? I'm so scared and die of fear of being infected!

 HIV is not transmitted by masturbation. You didn't have a risk.

The ONLY confirmed risks for the sexual transmission of HIV are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse. Use condoms consistently for those activities and you will be well and effectively protected. It really is just as simple as that.

No matter what spin  you put on masturbation it is not a risk for HIV. Period.

Wow, what a relief!
I knew by reading that masturbation is not a HIV risk. But I thought or better feared that getting in contact with discharge or any other vaginal secretions on the tip of penis would be. As it was for all the ohter STDs I got.

Just one last question that would interest me: Is a rest of discharge due to a STD from a vagina not more infectious than normal vaginal fluid or saliva?

Chuck, I am not clear about what you are asking about vaginal discharge. This is an HIV specific website. So a vaginal discharge of any sort would not be a risk for HIV transmission as long as you aren't having unprotected intercourse.

Other STDs are easier to acquire so if you are sexually active it's a good idea to at least annually have a full STD panel done and every 6 months is even better.
