Starting Atripla tonight.
« on: May 13, 2008, 04:36:08 pm »
Hey everyone,
Tonight will be my first night on meds. My viral load went up to 175,000, but my cd4s are still above 500. My dr and I thought it was best to start treatment now. Are any of you on this? How are the side effects for you?

Hey Pink-
I started Atripla on Feb. 20.  I had some really strange dreams at first, I take it at night.  Lately, I have been more moody than usual.  I am still undetectable, I changed regimens because of my chloresterol.  I love that it is just one pill.
Good Luck,
Snow

I am on Atripla. The first few nights I had funky or vivid dreams. Remember not to eat any fatty food an hour or so before or after taking the pill. For me, the side effects only lasted a few days. Within a month I was undetectable. If you start feeling any type of depression make sure to tell your doctor, that would be the Sustiva part of the pill. Good Luck and keep us posted.

Thanks ladies! I read in the treatment forum that it can cause weight gain. I really hope that doesn't do it to me because I am already overweight. I don't need anymore! lol.

Pink, I'm not on Atripla (I couldn't tolerate the Sustiva in it), but I just wanted to say good luck.

Pink, I have been taking Atripla for about a year now. In the beginning I felt totally loaded. In fact I jokingly callled it my LSD... :D I didn't take too long for those to wear off. I take it right before bed. I also questioned if there was weight gain with it and my doctor told me no but  some people here say yes so I don't know. I have responded well to the meds. My VL is undetectable and my count is around 300. Good luck!

I don't know if it was just me being nervous about being on the meds or the meds themselves, but I did not sleep well at all last night. I hope that doesn't last! I do remember when I could sleep that I had a really odd dream, which I remember, which I never remember my dreams. But other than that, so far so good I guess.

Hi, Pink i wish u well with ur meds, but i agree with ur choice u made in starting ur meds now.  I have been on Stativa and Travada, which is the same as Atripla, for 4 years now.  And when I first started them i was having those crazy dreams to.  But I figured out what the problem was, don't eat anything sweet 1  hour before or after u take ur meds. It's the Stativa that's making u have those dreams. That should stop those dreams. But some times a girl has 2 have her sugar  ;D.  But they will work wonders on ur viral load u should be undetectable in 2 months time.  And yes they do make u gain weight, I am fat as hell since I started those things.  >:( What a dummer.  :-\   Wish u luck girl  ;)

I am also on Stativa (Sustiva in the UK)  and Travada, which is the same as Atripla.

I have been on them about 2 months and all seems fine.
I did feel a bit 'drunk/stoned' about an hour after I took them to start with - but this is wearing off and I sleep very well on them, had a few dreams at first but nothign out of the ordinary now.

How is it going for you  now

So it's been just a couple days shy of a month being on atripla. I had a loss of appetite for the first week and I lost 5 pounds. My appetite came back after a week and I gain 3 pounds back since! lol. The only other side effects I had were extremely dry skin on my face and neck, and a rash on my thighs that only last 2 days. So far, I am feeling good with being on it. I feel like I have more energy as well. So far so good :)

I started Atripla on 10/24/06.  I also have HCV.

My last Tcount was 547 undetectable
My last HCV viral load was 7M
I am set up to take an MRI of my liver on the 23 of this month.  I understand the MRI could be from 45 minutes to an 1 hour

So far Atripla has been working out and is definitely easier to take.  As its one pill with other ingredients.

I still have crazy dreams and it is still hard for me to fall asleep.

Hope you are all okay.  I will give an update once I receive my HCV results.

Until then, I wish you all are doing well.

I've been on Atripla for almost a year now and was doing fine until recently when I realized that I'm having some painful side effects that I had with other meds. I'm assuming that its probably normal but I may have to change again.

What are some of the painful feelings are you having on Atripla.  I have been taking it awhile with no problems.  Are you on any other medication.
