Had my biopsy ..(phew)
« on: January 22, 2008, 11:57:15 am »
I finally had my liver biopsy yesterday...It wasnt as bad as people said it was and I had no
sedation..only a local ....

Ill know what stage my liver is in within 3 days..Thats thursday...

When I get my result of the biopsy, I will  post them....

I am so glad I got this over with..Been gong back and fourth with having this procedure
done way to long..

In 1997 thats when they told me I had Hep C..
So i began using nature herbs from an asian doctor who specalizes in Heptitis  of all kinds.
I was dong great on his herbs, but when I move out of NYc and move to NU I stopped
seeing him, and now my numbers were though the roof.. :(
I finally had the biopsy preformed.....so glad that part is over...
They also told me I have Hep A as well.. ???

They told me I must of had it for quite sometime..but thats not serious...

So I am just focusing on getting my genotype back from the drs..and then Ill know
where I stand and what treatment I need..(that should be on thursday)

Iam just so glad it did it ..It took me 11 yrs, but I done did it.. ;)

Just hope its at a treatable stage....So say a group prayer for me..
They do help..... :)

Hey Ubotts,

What they mean is that you've had Hepatitis A sometime in the past. The infection itself has passed but you carry the antibodies for life. It's an acute infection and about half of the people who get it don't get ill. The other half feel very ill for about 2-3 months.

If you didn't know you had it, then you're in the first 50%.

As they've told you a past HAV infection is nothing to be concerned about. HAV has no long lasting impact on your liver.

Hey Ubotts:

So glad you came through the liver biopsy.  I was diagnosed with Hep A a long time ago.  The doctor said it was most likely due to a past food poisoning I had.  Anyway, I'll be keeping you in my prayers, for sure. Please let us know what your docs find out!
Peace~
Betty

Hi Ubotts,

Have they told you if you have any scarring or fibrosis of the liver?  My last liver biopsy was in 2005.    I am not sure I will have another one this year.  My genotype is 1B.  I was thinking about asking my hcv doctor if I can get on a list for a liver transplant.  I may not have problems now but could later on in the future.  I am sure the list is long.  But if I go on now, if I do develop a problem at least I will be on a list.

My next visit with my hep C doctor is later on in March.  I like to stay in front of the game rather than wait until it is too late.

How have you been feeling.

courage

Sorry I havent posted about this sooner,,,I thought I did, but it must of been in a different post..

I have hep c Genotype 1a hardest to cure, and I also have genotype 2, which you have a 50/50 chance of curing...Which is better then Genotype 1a..theres only a 30% of a cure rate, and being co-infected isnt going to make it any easier..

I start treatment in Sept....One shot a week and some pills for at least 9 to 14 months..
I am not looking foward to it..and when I was told , it totally comsumed my everythought.....

They put me on zoloft, because all I did was cry, but i was crying before I got this news, so I must of been depressed for awhile...
So far not to much crying, but I still have no ambition to do anything..
Today I visit the therapst....My medical dr. put me on zoloft and thought I should see
my new therapist...So thats where I am headed today..

Wish me lots of luck with all this...... :-\ I could use it...

Ubotts, I think you're seeing a therapist is an excellent idea.  I guess I must had assumed you were, or I would have suggested it to you before.

Seeing a new therapist can be challenging.  Not everything has to come out in the first session.  But if you find one that you like, it's extremely rewarding.  Good luck and keep us updated on things are going.
