HIV transmission toilets?

I know this has been answered many times before- its a no.

However, what happens if you have a hemmoroid and use the restroom? The water could splash on it, or you could use toilet paper that might be *contaminated* which is highly unlikely- considering it would dry the cells and its not a good place for any cell outside the body to *live*....

I guess I could say I answered my own question- however, since the hemmoroid is bleeding and on a mucous membrane- is there a chance to get hiv through the toilets?

To be honest- I seriously doubt this...but im just curious- for my own sake to.

You're right, this question has been answered many times before and that answer is no. Even if you have piles. HIV is not transmitted via toilets, toilet seats, toilet paper toilet water or anything like that.

Hiv is spread through unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse or sharing drug injecting needles with someone who is hiv positive. It does not lurk in the environment waiting for unsuspecting mucus membranes, nor can it be transmitted from environmental surfaces, including water.

For your future reference:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex with a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through all three condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results. Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Thank you very much. I know I might sound and seem crazy, but I have had external hemmoroids but I'm to embarrassed to see a doctor about it. Sometimes when I use the restroom, I bleed, and sometimes I don't. Therefore Im worried someone before me might of had hiv and got it on the toilet or toilet paper. Which is so stupid of me.

If anything I should of gotten a bacteria infection and or any other std such as gonnorehea, syphillus, chlamadia, etc etc. Those are the things I should be more worried about because it is more prevalent in the population.

Second I've never had sex or done drugs. So I'm 100% clean. I'm just worried that using toilets + bleeding hemmoroids might lead to hiv. But thats just stupid.

I think I need to see a pyschologist more than a doctor.

Please don't use terms like "clean" to refer to HIV status. It suggests that HIV positive people are "dirty", I'm HIV positive and I find your use of the term "clean" very offensive.

I recently went to my doctor to check blood spotting on toilet paper and he said it was either hemroids or an anal fissure which is a minor thing he assured me.

I reasoned its from using toilet paper that isnt kind on my skin.

Anyways, I'm worried that you could possibly get infected with any std or other disease by using public place toilet paper, or say if there is water splashback.

However, I am thinking that this is unreasonable and nonexistant. I would probably get some other prevalent std by now, and considering hemroids effects so many individuals and so many are not infected through this way, that this is such a retarded thought.

I asked my doctor about it, and she thought i was crazy. I didn't ask her directly but reather I asked her, if you can get it through using the restroom, and well, she looked at me crazy and said no no no.

I guess I'm crazy for asking again, but I will. Is there any risk even if the previous person using the toilet and toilet paper was hiv positive or whatever?

You won't become infected with hiv - or any other sexually transmitted infections - in a public toilet unless you're having unprotected intercourse or sharing drug injecting needles in that public toilet.

Quick question to end this question, and to put it into perspective.

Would you consider fingering, or oral, (even though it is a extremely low chance of contracting hiv) a bigger risk then having hemmoroids and using the toilet???

I figure that there is a bigger risk, but considering that fingering and oral sex has such low hiv occurence- especially fingering- that  my fears are unwarrented, and finally my ocd can lay to rest.

Can you guys put it to perspective? perhaps like winning the lottery is more probable then getting hiv from the toilet?

Fingering is not a risk. Getting a blowjob is not a risk. Going down on a woman is not a risk. Giving a blowjob is a purely theoretical risk, one that's never been proven to be an acutal risk.

You'd have a better chance of winning the lottery in every single state, in every single country that runs a lottery, all on the same night, than you'd have a chance of hiv infection via a toilet bowl and a sore ass.

You did NOT have a risk for hiv infection.

If you have OCD, the correct place to deal with that is in a therapists office. We cannot help you with that here.
