Sex police
« on: April 24, 2007, 09:09:43 pm »
http://www.thebody.com/content/whatis/art14139.html

I remember those times, and there are still "no unsafe sex" or "use a condom or you're out" signs in those clubs. I have never seen this reinforced, no sex police. Has anyone seen the sex police?

Why doesn't it suprised Matty the Damned that this sort of drivel would be published on the low rent tabloid equivalent of AIDS websites, The Body?

The author of that noxious guff is a first class, gilt edged, diamond studded, sea going fuckwit. It's busy-body frott-boy circle-jerk loving members of the Safe Sex Taliban like Mark Milano who contribute to a negative view of human sexuality.

This, in Matty the Damned's opinion, is what leads to ignorance about sex in the first place. It prevents people from learning how to have anal (or vaginal should the fancy seize one) in a safe way. Anal and oral sex are stigmatised by uptight queer dinosaurs by Milano which shuts down dialogue.

Quite frankly drug fucked like cum-latrines Mark Milano would have done us all favour by staying in the 70's giving bad handjobs to truck drivers at rest stops.

Well I was bored and was wondering what was on that website, and came across this. Matty you crack me up too (I just had a hilarious PM from a long time member).

But I think what I wanted to ask was how sex clubs "enforce" this now (it seems they don't, but I haven't been to every of them). I mean this is ridiculous to have those posts all over the place, so is that a "requirement" or what? If they don't post anything they will be sued by authorities for promoting bareback?

I remember being in a sex club in Paris, and trying to stick a dick up my ass, bareback. The guy YELLED, literally, YELLED "GUYS! THIS DUDE WANTS ME BAREBACK! BE CAREFUL!". That worked better than the sex police, I left the club right away and felt really ashamed.

Hey, if they want to get HIV, that's their business, if they're so stupid as to take a guy's word that he's negative, thats just one less fucktard in the world.

I think the government should stop paying for pills, a lot of people don't care if they get HIV because the government will just ride in and pay $2,000 a month to keep their sorry asses alive.

I'm saying infection rates would probably go down if people didn't think they could automagically become a welfare queen and live another 40 years.

So Iz, the question iz.. what iz your take on thoz rulz?

Seriously, I didn't think I was going to be a "yay fuck yay the government is going to pay for me if I get infected so I don't care" queen. Seriouly. Never came to my mind. And i'm glad I pay taxes. And I sometimes wish they would allow me to up the price I pay for a consult or medicine because I can afford it right now and the difference would go to help people who can't afford it.

I happened to get diagnosed very, very shortly after having gotten laid off from a job in corporate travel.  When I found out the news, I was already in a perilous situation with an immediate need for medication.  If the government hadn't been there to ride in, my "sorry ass" would indeed not be alive today.

Thanks for the love, precious.

I happen to agree with the city on closing down sex clubs, people go in there and shoot up and have anonymous sex with 50 people in a row, then run crying to the health department.

I'm saying that the prevention education should be there, and these filthy orgy clubs should be shut down.

If people want to meet at a bar and take it home, then I don't see a problem with that, but to facilitate sex with random anonymous people while under the influence of drugs should be criminally irresponsible.

The reality of life is that you could be trapped on an island, and as long as you had food and water, you could survive indefinitely without sex.

Nobody on here is going to judge how you got infected. I'm asking a simple question, which is based on my experience with those clubs. Saying that being infected in those clubs is like walk barefoot on broken glass is forgetting how you got infected.

Although drugs are quite prevalent in a "sex club" they are quite prevalent in "dance clubs" also (gay or straight). Does that mean they should be shut down also? People that use drugs do so anywhere so that isnt a valid point. They may tend to gravitate towards the sex clubs but if the sex clubs disappear they will still continue to do their thing....

The sex club is a business and they are their to make money and that is there main priority. People do what they choose to do and will continue having unsafe sex if the club exists or not (they will find a rest stop, beach or whatever)....Its not the clubs problem if you choose to break the rules and ignore the "safe sex" signs ....

and as far as the goverment shouldnt pay for meds because people dont mind getting infected because they know they will be taken care of is complete bullshit. I didnt even know how much goverment help there was out there until i got infected, and i dont think that would have affected my decisions anyways....not to mention with the prices they charge for meds who could afford them without help or insurance!...im sure you couldnt..most here would be dead...so that was a very sensitve comment ;D

Closing sex clubs isn't going to prevent people from having unsafe sex. In case you aren't on the email list there are sex parties going on all the time in people's homes. If you closed every sex club tomorrow I don't think you would even slow people down. This isn't the 80s anymore... it's more like the 70s. Key party anyone? Spouse swapping maybe? ;)

Well, that takes me to another point, which is that the drug companies could sell those pills for $100 a month and still make a profit, the government simply does nothing to regulate the obscene profit margin, then taxes me to pay for everyone else's fuck ups.

Yeah, theres one in Mishawaka, Indiana every month on the second Saturday.

Somehow I got on the guy's email list and I still get invites, this has been going on for like 9 years now, the guy was like 38 and was trying to get me to have sex with him when I was 14.

The only way to slow down people from having sex (safe/unsafe) is to shut down the internet...and even then it would still happen

Happy to report that you are indeed paying a portion for mine.

And I am paying in a portion as well.  These days, of course, I am benefitting from that taxation by receiving life-saving medication.  (Sorry if that chaps you, dear.)  But in days of old when I was fit as the proverbial fiddle, I was making a contribution through taxes to "pay for everyone else's fuck ups".  And it never bothered me in the least.

You do realize, don't you, that you are making some very broad and very insulting statements to a great number of people here on this site?

I'm on food stamps and medicaid for a few months, and I'm not even costing medicaid anything since I'm not taking any medication.

I lost my job and I qualified for both of them, I'm sure that over the years I've poured in 100 times what I'm getting back.

Hmmm ever think "what if i had to take medication?" then youd be costing the Gov't lots of money and that would make you a hypocrite, the fact that you dont have to take medication has nothing to do with you only the fact you are lucky not to have to take it at the moment, but the day you do have to take it you will rely on health insurance or the goverment.....

and im sure everyone on medicaid here has "lost their job and qualifies" also....

I think the government should stop paying for food stamps.

I'll bet people would try a lot harder to hold onto their jobs if they didn't know to expect the government to ride in and keep their sorry asses from starving to death.

some states have HIV testing available in the sex clubs i believe....

some offer condoms....

but it all comes down to personal choice in the end... feds, state, or whatever

izprince, as you progress through your life and your time with this disease, your attitude will change, regardless of your age.

THAT is much better.

I guess I could have just said... GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSE MISTER!  You're dying just like the rest of us, suck it up and get used to it!

Thats a bit better  ;D although i wasnt really offended anyways....thats hard to achieve  ::)

How long were you diagnosed IZPRINCE? According to what ive read there are "steps"one goes through when finding out about bad news....Initial shock, denial, anger, depession, and eventually acceptance. The way you speak about the disease and life in general sounds like either you are going through the "anger" stage which is ok...it happens  ;D

Either that or your just naturally bitter lol...but ill go for the above idea until im proven wrong

by the way i just got the "reforma" card (aka "medicaid") which i legally qualified for (sort-of) and im not on meds yet so im not costing the goverment much money.....yet i dont think ill of peope that do cost the goverment money .....If the money doesnt go to helping people it will go to pay for some politicians big dinner, or magically end up in their pocket anyways.....it will always manage to get spent whether it goes to someone with HIV, fixing roads, or stolen...

Full disclosure:  I've never been to a sex club, so I may just be
talking out my ass (so to speak).  But it seems to me that
nothing would kill business (or a good boner) at a sex club
more than having sex "police" patroling the place.  Unless,
perhaps, these "police" might actually be participating (one
can always fantasize, can't they?).

We can argue then about whether or not there should be
sex clubs.  But even without sex clubs, and even without
the Internet, I'd wager a ton of money that there will still be
*plenty* of guys hooking up, and *plenty* of guys having
unsafe sex.  Not that hook-ups are the only situations where
people have unsafe sex, of course.

Henry

23!  That's what I wondering last night when I was reading all those posts.  "Isn't this guy 23 or 24 or something?"  Wondered when he had written that he was "sure he had paid in over the years a 100 times over what he was getting back..."

Really?   Really??  At 23?  Must have had ONE HELL of an income when working through high school to have pitched so much into the pot at such a young age.  From somewhere other than Wal-Mart, certainly.

Thunter it should be noted that I guessed at his age.  But I believe it to be "fairly" accurate.  As he indicated he's been getting invites to a sex party in Indianna for 9 years and he was 14 when he first started getting them, I just plugged all those numbers into the W.H.O.P.P.E.R computer and out spit the appropriate algorithm!

After much discussion at my math club we figured the answer to be 23.

Damn milker, I'm hijacking again.

OK so.  Sex police.  BAD FUCKING IDEA.  Unprotected sex with strangers WILL HAPPEN no matter if you shut the places down or not.  Being the good little bottom whore that I was, nothing would have stopped me.  Although I will agree that teh internets exacerbate the problem for me.

Aaaaaaaaand unhijacked.

BACK ON TOPIC PEOPLE!!!

As for "education" in the bath houses?  WOW, I learned some stuff there, but none of it was about prevention.  Would anyone actually listen?  Do they announce it over the PA.  "Gentleman, in room 256 is a slut bottom wanting to get used, and in room 109 is a lecture on proper use of condoms.  Thank you."

I have an idea!  Ya know how they have those things sometimes (like I believe that Jeff Palmer guy did this awhile back) where some bottom opens himself up to the community at large?  Ya know- come to the Fulsom St. Fair and sign up to screw Joe So & So!  Here's what we do:  Hire out some hottie porn star or escort to be our eductional assistant.  Sort of a living, breathing sex-ed equivalent of a CPR doll.  Promote your little safe sex instruction effort at your local sex club with the added enticement that participants will get to practice what they are taught on our in-house assistant here.

Work with me here, people.  Think outside the box.  Or rather, inside the box, so to speak.   ;D

Sorry, but I am going to return this thread to comments that IZ said and I will start with the fact that you are possibly the most cold-hearted man I have encountered in a very long time.  I happen to be one of those "disco welfare queens" because I am unable to work.  Forgive me for getting sick and I am sorry that I just didn't blow my brains out, when I tested positive, so people like you could be comfortable disparaging others.  I do not care how old you are, nor when you became infected.  What I do care about is you do not know what you are talking about concerning HIV programs, services and the drug manufacturers and you have no issue slamming innocents, say those who were born with HIV.  How does closing bath houses help them???

Frankly, I would love to share your point of view, but I am afraid there is simply not room enough up your ass, for both of our heads.

You may also want to consider this Chinese proverb: "It is better for the world to think you a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."

PPS-  I have just discovered the basis of a rather important new thread.   Regardless of intention, I am not amused to discover that MY words can be altered when QUOTED by someone else (as AC has just done while quoting me above).  If anyone can so freely put words into the mouths of others, what's the point of having a quote function?

I'll start another thread for this, but wanted to call attention to it at the moment.

Now back to our regularly scheduled topic.

Sorry to have interrupted the thread, but sometimes I just cannot remain silent over such hurtful and insensitive comment.

As to this topic, closing bath houses, the Internet or anything else will never work, because prevention starts in your head.  If you do not believe yourself to be worthy of protection, there is nothing anyone can ever do or say to change your mind.  Here in S. Florida we have a couple of really nice bath houses, with condoms all over, posters, signs, pamphlets, you name it, but if you won't read them, what else can we do?  Yes, we could have "sex police" going though the club to promote safe sex, but surely you don't think any guy would tolerate someone coming into a private room to ensure no BBing.  If we close the sex clubs, we miss an opportunity to educate those members who do read the information and I am not willing to lose this vehicle to a part of the gay community.

Besides, closing the clubs just forces unsafe sex back underground, where there are no prevention messages, condoms, nor often the will to engage in safer sex.  AC has it right, we need to think outside the box, because our current programs are not working.  Not working at all.

Im almost 100% positive i was infected in "the club" fort lauderdale lol....got to love that fine establishment.....lol

but i agree there are safe  sex signs everywhere and i didnt always listen to them.....but overall i think that the people that want to stay safe will try even harder to stay safe at a sex club.....i mean if you meet someone at a sex club you would be less likely to "bareback" knowing what goes on there....someone you meet online or something is more 1 on 1 and you may feel more comfortable because of the enviroment.....but in the end we do or dont do what we want at the time (even if its stupid)

Well I see that there is activity on this thread :)

I remember a LONG time ago (I guess late 80s in NYC) going to this place and there was a STRICT policy of no sucking/no fucking. It was not a jackoff place per say, but they prohibited anything unsafe. Two guys were thrown out because they went down on each other. it was that place near christopher street which was a gay bookshop with a basement for sex, if you know it.

I think it finally closed - but have not been to the village in a long time.  But you could fit two people in the booths if one of the "hall monitors" wasn't looking.  I had some of the best fucks there and at another place on 22nd street off 8th.  Like they had no idea what was going on - at one time they had little plastic bags with lube and condoms that they gave you when you paid your entry fee - but Guilliani's (sp?) storm troopers stopped that!!!

I went to Club Indy back in 1998, when I was 14, it's supposed to be 18 and over, but they just let me right in anyway.

All there was in there were men in their 40's and up, I even had a few of them offer me money to have sex with them.

Needless to say, I left immediately.

I've been in three different clubs that were raided by the actual police while I was there.

The first was a notorious after-hours club in Boston separated by only an alley from Police headquarters. In the fearsome moments of the early 80s, when they closed the two bathhouses in town, the graft payments weren't enough to get an occasional police response (or maybe it was the 30 or so guys pissing off the fire escape). As I remember it, the worst thing about the incident was getting a good look at the fearsome troll I'd been fucking once the lights were all put on.

In the mid-90s my favorite sticky-floor dive decided to return to its roots and remodeled the "video lounge" back to its original backroom decor (and function). As I was squatting (and not on my knees precisely) I was able to stand up and close my pants before any evidence of public indecency could be detected by Boston's finest.

The third time was the most terrifying for me. I was in Caracas with my then-lover Carlos (we were visiting his folks) and evidently the police had gotten wind of heinous debauchery and closed the place: men were dancing together. The music suddenly stopped, the lights came on, and a SWAT team armed to the teeth was suddenly everywhere. As we were merely drinking at the moment and not dancing we were not detained. This was in 1986: I'm told that Venezuela has become a tad more progressive since.

If the main topic of this thread is using sexclubs for preventative education, I'm dubious. It would be like running moderation PSAs over the TV screens in the middle of a three-for-one Happy Hour methinks.

Brent
(Who prefers immoderation in most things)

And-
As someone who hit the ground running sexually at the age of 17 in 1977, I'll gladly cop to cruising old-fashioned porn theaters while still a teen. The age of the guys I met there was generally irrelevant, I was in it for the easy action. I even posted an article in the Spin Cycle about it almost two years ago titled Innocent Debauchery Lost:

I've been at an after party that got raided by the police, there wasn't any sex going on, but there was a lot of underage drinking, and a lot of people there (including myself) had weed, anyway I ended up jumping out a second story window and onto the roof of the garage, then down to the ground, and I ran for like a block to get to my car, lots of people there did get arrested, but I managed to get away.

Wait a sec....

So the person who was so adamant about not "letting the druggies out of prison" and promoting the idea of sending all of those currently in prison over to Iraq is actually a drug user himself?

I should be suprised by that revelation, but I'm not.

Weed is not what I'd call a hard drug, alcohol is infinitely worse, and it's legal.

Of course I've never done cocaine, heroin, meth, LSD, Ecstasy, etc.

But of course.

So you should clearly be excused from your own hard-line system of justice.

Again...not suprising.

I know, Brent.  It's just kind of amusing to sit back and watch someone do it so blatantly and with such willful dismissal of the obvious!  A person oh-so-ready-and-willing to both judge and sentence the rest of the world...with such convenient exemptions made for himself!  Kind of, my fanny...it's REALLY amusing!  Downright laughable.
