Just Started Weight Loss w/ LA Weight Loss
« on: December 03, 2006, 12:40:51 am »
I just started a plan with LA Weight Loss.  They gave me this drink that is suppose to "detoxify" my body.  OMG!  The bathroom has been my friend for two days!

I also had a raging headache that could only be cured by 2 500mg Ibuprofen pills.

So, that is the start of my weight loss journey.  I need to lose 80-100 pounds.

Hello,

I am not always up on all the threads. Have you started on medication yet. Also, have you discussed this diet with your doctor?

Take care and good luck !!!------Ray

I have been on Nutrisystems prior to starting the meds.  I am about to get back on it so finish up my goal of dropping 75#.  The thing about Nutrisystems is it's portion control and low fat / sodium.   A nice salad and it's great for my Sustiva habit at night.  The nights I don't have a Nutrisystem meal are the nights I'll be up with a headache or can't sleep.

Either it's the low fat or I am addicted to Nutrisystems which might not be a good thing.  The key is to see a nutritionist who can guide you through the proper levels of calories and nutrients needed for your situation.  Don't forget to tell the nutritionist about your work and eating habits.  If you do a weight loss program, anything more than 1-2# per week is lunacy since one gains it back plus more.  It's a lifestyle change along with a change in eating habits.  The hard part is unlearning all those horrible things your mother taught including cleaning your plate before leaving the table.  If you're full, you're full.  Stop eating.  The starving kids in China (or Africa) won't be getting the leftovers.

Teresa Curves is a great way. With Curves and Weight Watchers point system I lost 70 lbs in 6 months. I worked out for 30 minutes at least four times a week and just did the points on my own with info from the internet on www.dwlz.com.
As soon as I have this baby I am doing that again!

Hey There,

I just lost 20lbs, but just changing my diet.   I don't starve myself, but I add tons of fresh and frozen vegtables to everything and quit eating at fast food places!   I would like to loose about 10 more, but you should alert your doctor about any diet plans to make sure you aren't throwing your body in shock.

To be honest I haven't exercised at all and the weight dropped off in about a month and a half.   I'm not on any meds yet as my counts are still above the guidelines, but if you are on meds that's another thing you should be careful you aren't starving yourself or messing up your electrolytes.

Getting healthy is a great idea for anyone and especially those of us with HIV.

Good Luck!

After this holiday season, I will probably need to diet.

I hope the L.A. Weight Loss works for you. It is a good idea to let your doc know what you're doing, just so he/she won't be shocked at the new svelt you when you walk in the door!

HUGS,

Mark
