Alone and Terrified
« on: May 08, 2011, 12:53:18 am »
For 18 years I have managed this "event" in my life with little complication.  Now all of the sudden I feel closer to the end of my life than I have ever felt before.  I've had to call  in a Care Team to help me with the day-to-day issues of life that I can no longer manage.  I appears I may be losing my sight (no pos word on that one yet) and my life has turned into a total disaster that I have no control over.  I feel like I am a shell of my former self and have no one near me to talk to regarding what is going on in my life.  It is a very destitute feeling.

Good Morning,

I'm very sorry to hear about your vision issues.  Thank you for reaching out to the community in this very difficult time.  Without repeating the questions already being asked, I hope that you are able to find an amicable solution to what is happening.  Please share how you are doing.  Though you may be a person that I have neither met nor really know, I am interested in knowing how you are doing.  My best wishes for an improvement in your circumstances.......Richard

Dane-

I am sorry that you are having all this happen now after doing well for so long. It is good that you have a team to help you with the things you can no longer do for yourself. The vision is an especially scary proposition. I am pulling for you and hoping that it all turns out okay. Keep us informed as to how things are going okay? We will all be here if you need us.

Just my two cents, but I think you should see an eye doctor asap.

Years ago when I was bouncing from one OI to another, I mentioned to a visiting nurse that the vision in one of my eyes was strange. She immediately called my opthomologist and I saw him that very day.

It turned out that I had CMV and he started me on Ganciclovir.  It is important to start treatment right away to avoid permanent damage.

Hopefully you don't have CMV, but you should see an eye doctor...don't wait.

Hey Big Dane,

Glad you reached out to us.

Where are you located? I'm wondering about what services might be available for you to get you through this tough time and not be stuck alone. Have you talked with your Care Team about this?

Hugs to you, buddy.

Hey Big D,

Like the others I am really concerned about your eyesight, and I'll jsut repeat the fact that you need to get into an eye doc.

Also, you live in Austin?> you may already be hooked up with them but Aids Services of Austin has some great counselors that you might consider talking to about your situation. Also, Waterloo Counseling has some fantastic therapists and pretty much they will take anyone regardless of ability to pay (if money is a problem) http://www.waterloocounseling.org/

Talking of course is very therapeutic and whether it's a counselor, friend or even on here I think it would do you a wealth of good.

Thinking about you and sending some hugs.

zzzzi vsn't get hooked up with ASA because eve though I live in Austin cit limits I live in Wimmiansom county which just compounds the problems for trying to retain services.  They are tell me a month at the bare minimum and living as I dok I don't know that I can tolerate it for another month.
