I'm confused about most recent labs...
« on: September 23, 2013, 10:58:47 am »

I just got my most recent lab results back, and I don't understand part of the result.  I'm waiting to hear back from my Dr(P.A.), but in the meantime I thought I'd see if anyone here had seen this.

I was diagnosed HIV+ April 6th 2013....started Atripa May 17, 2013....
I got my first undetectable VL in July,
HIV-1 RNA by PCR  <20
HIV-1 RNA not detected

My labs  I got back today (9-23-12) show
HIV-1 RNA by PCR  <20
HIV-1 RNA detected

I'm confused why my VL would be under 20, but the RNA still show as detectable??

Has anyone else had a similar result...? So am I no longer undetectable if the lab shows HIV-1 RNA detected?  I know I'm splitting hairs here a little bit, and maybe a little over-reactive.....I'm just still new to this....and still get freaked out over stuff....I've also had a lot of illnesses in the last few months, things I've never really dealt with in the past....I swear I've spent more time on antibiotics this year than I have my enitre life....and that worries me too......

Thanks for reading this,

Casey

also...in Dallas, I am using Uptown Physicians group.....anyone else have experience with them???

My latest labs say the same thing, where the line says "HIV-1 RNA detected" but also "HIV-1 RNA by PCR  <20"

I've only ever paid attention to the "<20" part indicating that my viral load is undetectable.

....and still get freaked out over stuff....

We all did.  That won't last long.   :D

I'll leave your specific question to one of the experts.

Being honest is not wronging others, continuing the dishonesty is.
