Make that THREE! Santiago has decided what the priorities are for this year, and he will be coming with me (and joining Nick) on AA #1106 to Boston!  Currently we're pulling a window train with Nick in front and Santi pulling up the rear :o but I'll try to get my dad to reseat me and then get Santi next to me as well.

WOO-F'N-HOO!!!

p.s. we're still working on Curtis...looks promising.

Hot diggity damn.  Basquo and Santi and Nick!!

RAB   ;D

P.S. Tell Curtis to get his butt in gear and book that ticket!  Or else!

My information is not yet on the list only because the Louisville to Boston ticket price is stubbornly high.  It has been lower before...I will wait a little longer, but not much longer.  I will be there for all the proceedings!

I just want to say I am so bummed I cannot attend.  I love Boston and it would be such an amazing experience.  In my work, it takes 8-10 years seniority to get a summer month day off. :(  (or sick time, but I can't pull it off that long. haha)

Someone take lots of pictures.

It is now official.  Hubby, Mim, and I will be arriving, via car, on Thurs. and leaving on Monday.  We won't be staying in the same motel, however.

See you in Boston!

Just remember, Basquo, you aren't the only one who signs...and Santi won't be the only one one who speaks Spanish.   ;) ;D

This is totally out of the blue for me.  On the way to Mim's neuro. appointment, Hubby casually said that we'd figure out a way to go.  I thought I misunderstood him.  Not sure what happened, but I'm not complaining.

I guess I'd better "reveal" Hubby's name.  LOL..it's one thing having people older than I am call me Mum, but calling my dear one Hubby...on second thought ::)

Could someone repost the agenda for Boston?
I'm feeling anxious watching Ric's list getting longer with confirmations and me not on there.

Hi Rick, all....

Arriving in Boston, 8/5/09 and departing 8/12/09 most likely on Amtrak so I don't have exact times yet.  I will be rooming with Mark (aztecan).  Look forward to a day trip to Provincetown, the historic walk and hopefully a day trip to Salem, Ma.  Any of the meet and greet party ideas are fine by me.

Love, Jody  :)

If I spend 30 minutes in Newark on the way home can I count NJ as a state I've been to?

Curtis

HARUMPH!   :P

Technically the answer is NO!  However I did find a clause in the AMG handbook (Chapter 9, Section 36,  Subsection 3ii) that says if you visit each and every restroom, flush each and every urinal twice, then (and only then), you could add NJ to your personal list of states  visited!

I thought Curtis had fallen under a rock or something!  Glad you are going to join us this summer... I say when your feet hit the ground in a state...it counts!

I'm missing Connecticut, Montana, and Alaska to get a complete set.  There's an idea for future AMG sites!

Now RAB, we all know that this feat would not be possible since Curtis would have to visit all the Lady's rooms as well to meet the criteria.  And we all know that Curtis ain't no lady!  No self respecting southern gentleman would be caught in a Lady's room, even in New Jersey.  Please review and amend the AMG Handbook as necessary.

Not true!  As far as I know, "lady's rooms" don't have urinals!    ::)

O.K. well that ain't going to happen!  Besides, you'd have to submit your request for a rule revision in double triplicate to the anonymous rules committee.  It would take two years and several hissy fits for something like this to happen!  "I'm just sayin!"

Thanks to help from the grants committee and especially Pozniceguy (Nick) I will be attending my first AMG.

I will be arriving in Boston (Back Bay) on Amtrak train 448 The Lake Shore Ltd at 903p or at least that's when the train is scheduled to arrive.  I'll be leaving on Tuesday on train 449 departing BBY at 12pm.

PS  A note about traveling with Amtrak.  If you have disabled discount card from a transit agency or get a letter from your doctor stating your disabled you qualify for a 15% discount on most rail fares.

I'm not sure.  IT depends on when the service is scheduled.  I'll be taking the bus from Lebanon, NH.  It departs at 7:20A, 920A, 11:20A and 1:20A (arriving at 9:35A, 11:35A, 1:35P and 3:35P [a 2.15 hour drive]) at Boston South Station.

Anyone know where the hotel is in relation to Boston South Station?

Now it's time to make my hotel reservation.  I'll call the hotel tomorrow and ask them where the station is.

South Station is probably not walking distance, with luggage (although, if you like to walk, perhaps......).  A cab ride likely wouldn't take too long -- maybe 10-20 mins, depending on traffic.  Subway might take a bit longer, because you'd have to change subway lines (Red to Green most likely).  I'm sure the hotel will give you the best option -- if it were me, I'd be cabbing......

thanks for the info.  Would Logan be better?  The bus also stops there.  I'll only have carry-on.

If I go to South Station I'll probably take a cab although I'm really not a cab-friendly kind of guy.

Logan would be even further.  The subway stops there too, but again, would require you to switch lines (Blue to Green in this case).  If your bus stopped at Back Bay Station, you'd be golden -- otherwise, you might simply need to bite the bullet and take that cab from South Station.   ;)
Shouldn't be a long ride though.

Of course, the hotel may have a better solution, but I think this is it.

Looking forward to meeting you!

Hugs,
Mike

Opps!  That might be kind of nice to know the day huh?!  ::)

I'll be leaving Chicago on Tuesday 4 August to arrive at BBY on Wednesday 5 August at 903pm (if you believe the train will be on time) And the Pollyanna in me is sure it will be!  :D

Just thought I would let everyone know I will be arriving, as planned on Aug. 5 on Amtrak, the Lakeshore Limited.
I will arrive at 9:10 p.m. at the South Station, from which I read I am supposed to take the Orange Line to the Backbay Station.

I will depart on Aug. 12 at 11:55 a.m., again on the Lakeshore Limited.

I am looking forward to this. I will get to have an adventure on the train and then AMG in Boston.

Yippee!!!!! ;D

HUGS,

Mark

Hey Mark,

The Orange Line does not stop at South Station, only the Red Line, the "silver line", which is a new line which I'm not familiar with and the commuter rail system (I started doubting my memory, so I went and check on the MBTA.com site).  You would have to walk to the Downtown Crossing T stop -- a bit of a hike with luggage -- to catch an Orange Line train.  If your train is not stopping at Back Bay, your best bet is to take a cab from South Station to the hotel.

Now -- I haven't lived in Boston in a good 10 yrs, so there may be options that I'm not aware of -- the hotel should be able to give you the best solution for getting to them from South Station.

mark.

I'm arriving at the South Station Friday morning.  Mike gave me the same advice:

Quote
South Station is probably not walking distance, with luggage (although, if you like to walk, perhaps......).  A cab ride likely wouldn't take too long -- maybe 10-20 mins, depending on traffic.  Subway might take a bit longer, because you'd have to change subway lines (Red to Green most likely).... I'd be cabbing......

I'll just have carry-on but still I don't think I'll be in the mood for schlepping the streets...at least then.
