I watched the whole episode last night on 2012 Doomsday theory and sort of bought it. I have studied Chinese I Ching before and I thought it's a very mysterious science maybe left by aliens. Today when I turned on history channel, it's showing something about big LA earthquake that will destroy the city. Somehow I am happy to watch and believe all these, this somewhat put having HIV as a small problem, since we are all doomed anyway.

Yeah, my roomie is into that stuff too and was telling me about the world coming to an end in 2012. Not sure if I really buy into all that when thinking about how everyone was losing their minds on the Y2K thing. I know my driver's license expires in 2012. But if I was to buy into that, I guess I hope I would be gone before then. It is something to think about, I guess especially with the global warming thing. Honestly, I wouldn't stress it, you know what they say, "Tomorrow is promised to no man/woman"...(trying to be politically correct and all). If it our time to go, it is our time to go, not sure there is anything that can be done to prevent it. For now, I'll just concern myself with living.

Well, hmmmm. What a nice thought. I try not to think of 'the end of time,' if it ever happens. And I wouldn't put a whole lot of stock in something the History Channel predicts.

Scientifically speaking, if humankind would stop polluting the air, land and water any further and stop annihilating natural resources (forest) now, at this second, we can easily stretch our earth to another few hundred years--barring catastrophes like asteroids impacting the earth or massive supervolcanic activity (yellowstone). However, the polluted atmosphere conditions have already set in motion atmospheric changes and best we can do is slow the progression down, if we stop now. However, I don't see that happening. Do you?
As far as 2012 goes, Aliveinla, you do realize it's just a stones throw into the next few years, don't you? Don't put any money on earth going away anytime too soon like 2012. Most likely we'll all be here. Four years away, dude!

Dude, if you're going to live your life based on the History Channel you'll be living a life of confusion. It's teevee, entertainment, not a predictor of the future. The shows run the gamut from Nostradamus, to I was Hitler's love child, to Jesse James is alive in Paraguay. Nothing attracts a crowd to the boob tube more than to have some survivalist in Georgia explain how the world was gonna stop during Y2K. They did that show prior to 2000. People believed it. The History Channel is ripe with shows about the devil and witches and Revelations. These are the type of shows that draw viewers.

Competent historians are always complaining about the History Channel. Hell, even the History Channel itself will tell you these programs are for entertainment only. They had a neat one on doomsday cults the other day.

I Ching predicted that age 36 for me will be disastrous. It was last year and that's when I got infected with HIV. I am not religious but it's comforting to think that somewhere there is a superpower running the show so that I don't have to blame myself so much. Deep down I don't believe the world is going to end in 2012 but it's comforting to think we might all end up dead anyway in 4 years might even before I start taking meds. Yeah, tomorrow isn't promised for anyone so I might go away even before 2012 so I guess I will have to live life to the best I can... wish all of you a very very nice and long life also.

me too! I like the show "lock up" on MSNBC too. I secretly admire those gangsters and criminals knowing that I can never become one, at least not in the foreable future.

religious groups and history have been trying to predict doomsday forever. the dates keep being pushed back. If it has so be it. I have to wonder about this though. I think we humans ourself cause more doomsday then what will actual happen

Religious ferver? I thought this was about an actual hole in the ozone and methane gas releases from the ocean floor which is quite unlike religiously influenced predictions: Book of Revelations a.k.a. "We'll scare you into being a follower."
But, yes, those do have a captive audience.
