Do you RAP?
« on: September 27, 2006, 04:12:37 pm »
If you do, here are some rappers from all over the world!

I would like to start with the Aussies, 'cause I just can't get enough of it...

Cuba
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhzCflXiNXU

France
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUbqCull2UA

This is the video for Kenny Arkana, one of the best rappers in the Hexagone! (France).  Kenny is what the Français de Souche (Whites) call a ""beurette"" for the girls, ""beur"" for the guys --- terms applied to French youngsters from Arab descent. Today, though, people in general have adopted The Verlan (French slang spoken backwards, the language of students, etc.)  when referring to them.  So, instead of saying ""beur"" you just turn it around and say ""rebeu""!

Hi Val

Rap is not normally music I listen to..but I thought I would see what it was all about...I loved "flowers for the dead".. the others I wasn't so keen on.

Thanks.

I find the one from Palestine to be incredibly compelling.  It works on a fascinating cultural level AND at the same time there is something somewhat disconnected about rap in Arabic.

Too bad the Cuban and French ones are gone.  French rap is REALLY bad and makes me laugh hysterically.

I think I'm prolly about the only one who likes rap on here, maybe Thomas too. I did listen to Chinese rap once but since I had no clue what they were saying, I was basically listening to the beats. T. I. has fallen off to me but I did love his one song Motivation. I prefer rappers like Ice Cube, Jay-Z, Nas and was surprised when 3-6 Mafia won a Grammy. As Lil Jon would say Yeeeeeeaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh.

Only Jigga man, Nas, Method Man... and a little Redman for me.   Nas is #1 in my book.

If anyone knows how I can find 2 live crew's Revolution (1984), I consider this the best rap of all time.  No it is not your typical 2 live crew either.

Queen since you are my age, do you remember Body Mechanic?

Rap is not like it was back in the day.

I'll stick to the old school R&B like:  Al Green, Lenny Williams, Betty Wright....

The song I want played at my funeral is Sam Cook's "Born by the River"

that one from Uganda was pretty cool...

I despise the song Love is in the Air, you should too.

Thomas, sorry no, I never heard of Body Mechanics. I also never heard of that song by 2 Live Crew, did you try to download if from some place like Limewire? If not, I will look into it. Btw, I may be part of an online DJ, I forget the technical term for a poz station. I will keep you informed so you can check out my skills... ;D
