Bus Driver Punches Female Passenger
« on: October 16, 2012, 02:18:33 am »
Saw the ladies of The View discussing this video.  Whoopie and Sherrie said the woman had it coming, saying when you choke and spit on someone , you have to expect the person will hit you back, regardless of whether you're a woman.  I am sure they will get tons of mail.

I agree with them. Threaten my safety? That's a punch in the head. Gender here is irrelevant.

To get physical with this unruly passenger might be called for but that uppercut was NOT necessary nor just, its not defending yourself.

The bus stopped, she is not an immediate threat to the passengers safety, he could have just literally thrown her of the bus. Why does he, in the position as bus driver(and a large male!), not take control of this situation before things got out of hand?

Is she drunk?

Something similar happen in Brooklyn, but the bus driver was stabbed and died from the stabbed wound.  I think it is better to just let the passenger go away an seat and if necessary call the police if there is danger.  BTW, I could not look at the whole video for it was too disturbing and too much offensive words.

One of the things the ladies stated on the view, Whoopi I believe, that in this day and age you cannot just assume just because you are female that you above being treated as you treat others. The punch in the face, a bit much, however when was the last time someone spit on you? And how would you react. Yes, this is a customer service oriented position, there are however limits. Personally I would have done the last thing the driver did and dragged/thrown her ass off the bus.

Bus drivers have to put up with a lot of crap daily while simply trying to earn a living.  I dated a girl years ago whose father was a Metro-Dade bus driver out of Miami.  Charles was spit on at least once a week.   He also got assaulted by a female once that I know of and by the time the police came she was long gone.

If this guy was on the job for 22 years I doubt he ever struck a passenger before.  While he helped escalate the situation, she definitely picked a bad day to F with him.

Shit.... when I watched the video you could actually hear the crack of knuckle hitting bone.

I can't even fathom spitting on someone, or being spat on.

If someone spit on me, depending on the circumstances, I would be hard pressed not to slug him or her.

I hide it well, but I have a bit of a temper and I know what I'd do if anyone, man or woman, spit on me.

She must be a tough gal as she stood up immediately after that upper cut.  Loved how everyone moved in to get a close up.

Reminds me of several other incidents over the last few years. Lots of cell phone cameras, a few too many spectators seeing the whole nasty shocking escalation as entertainment. Finally the blows, and its certainly not funny anymore.

Wondering if that lady was somehow fed energy to continue on her rant knowing the cameras were out and she was the star of some public spectacle?

Wondering why camera holders moved closer and if they get what they sorta want when it does come to blows...   I guess there is a rationale for one person to get it on tape. But half a dozen?

At least one non-camera holding bus rider goes to the front to maybe attempt to diffuse the situation...  Bless her for that.

Some riders do the sensible thing and move away toward the back and also quickly exit given the chance.  I guess they don't like depraved spectacles.
