What's the definition of insanity?

Doing the same thing over and over again... and expecting a different outcome each time.

I have been here since November, and I think I've encountered about sixteen thousand discussions about oldies vs. newbies. 

Has the outcome of any one of those discussions ever been really and truly different from any of the others?

There's a bunch of snapping, then flamebaiting... and warnings are passed out... which then brings on the kumbahyahs and "let's agree to disagree" stuff.  And the cycle begins anew about fourteen to twenty-one days later.

Every goddamn time.

Like clockwork.

Seriously... if everyone is so goddamn bored that this same, tired, old, and predictably nasty topic is brought up... I suggest we all find hobbies, and then return in two weeks to write about them.

I was joking.

To solve people's frustration maybe there should be an "Ignore thread" function. That way you could just ignore a thread that raised the blood pressure, but you wouldn't have to ignore the people in it.

That's actually quite the good idea.

I'm bringing this up because it seems to be an issue which comes up with alarming frequency... I think that it seems to point to some kind of collective insecurity that I have no ability or intention of solving. 

Perhaps the insecurity should be addressed rather than its symptoms.

But what the hell do I know?

I have no idea how to solve the problem, but it all certainly proves that the problem actually exists, that there is indeed an HIV "generation gap."

Don't become a part of those discussions.  If no one responds to an oldie/newbie it won't grow.  If people think it is important it will come up again, but I did not calculate as exactly the 21 day cycle you cite.  In +/- 21 days I will see myself.
