Goodbye Kaletra, hello Prezista!-A bit Worried

My Dr And I had a long appointment the other day. I drilled him on my recent diagnosis of Diabetes. I told him I double checked, and there was NO history of it in my family. I am a few ponds over weight, but a far cry from obese. He said Kaletra may be the culprit.

 He checked my chart and saw that I have been on Kaletra since 2003.

I am a bit nervous about change, however. My t-4's are in the 400's, and my VL is Zip.

The new combo is now  Prezista-Norvir-rescriptor


Am I nuts for switching???

from what i have read and understand of prezista is that it is a great drug and has a great repution and dosent have the gluclose problem

I don't blame ya for dropping the Kaletra if there are better options. I'm glad I did. Though anecdotal, from what I have read and heard Prezista sounds like a pretty improved PI option over Kaletra in terms of sides. Hope it remedies the diabetes issues.

I have been on prezista for almost a year. It is the first time in 20 years I have been undetectable and the longest I have been on a PI without developing resistance. It is also the first PI that hasnt made me sick every day of the week. The sides are basically zero for me. For me it is a miracle drug. This is the first time I have felt normal since starting drugs.

Yes, Prezista is a great PI.  The switch from Kaletra to Prezista was non-eventful.

Wow, thanks guys for your comments. I feel better about the switch already.

It helps to hear positive things for a change regarding a PI...

What a rare, beautiful thing. I just wonder why more of us aren't on it.
