Atripla dosing issue.
« on: August 11, 2011, 07:22:07 am »
I've been on Atripla for almost three months now.  I normally take it around 8-9 PM.  I set an alarm, and I also have a pill box.  I needed to catch up on sleep, so I went to bed at around 7 PM last night.  I woke up this morning unsure if I actually took my medication or not.  The space for yesterday's pill box is empty, but I have no recollection of waking up, turning off my alarm, and taking the pill.

I've been considering transitioning my dosing schedule to the morning for a while.  I don't experience any side effects (although I did in the beginning).  I believe it will help with adherence so I don't have to worry about sleeping through an alarm again.  Should I take one this morning just in case I did miss last night's dose and just begin a new dosing schedule around 9 AM everyday?

Hard to say -
If you did take it last night and you take again this morning, you shouldn't haven't any real adverse effects.  One time I took my 11 pm dose and then took again at 11 am - thinking I had forgotten the night before - and noticed more pronounced wooziness/dizziness that last for a little bit.

Some people like taking in the AM as they don't experience some of the sleep disruptions that can occur with Atripla.  Myself, I would rather take in the evening.  Personal choice - based on how you tolerate the drug and which dosing schedule works best for you.

Others may have additional feedback.

I can take a pill, be totally awake and an hour or two later, not recall if I took it. I've got better things to do with that data storage space (apparently).  I think your pillbox is the best evidence you took it.

Up to you, it will work whatever time you take it. An odd missed dose after 3 months won't matter.
