Comcast: Burnin Down the House?
« on: November 04, 2008, 06:14:20 pm »
I think there was a song about burnin down the house but the lyrics are not in my head today, oh well.  My neighbors and I have the exact same service from Comcast and both their houses caught fire today, both houses had Comcast Field Service doing repairs yesterday because their phones, high speed internet and TV were not working.

Both houses, one right next door and one across the street caught fire at the connection box, the wiring is fried and the siding is charred.  Both neighbors were home when the fires stated and caught it in time.  The ground wire on the house right next door was superheated, copper turned black and the Comcast services do not use that much electricity.

I called Comcast Customer Service to hear that since none of my services have been interrupted and my house did not catch fire with the others, there was no point to setting an appointment until either my services quit working or my house catch fire.  (I think I need a smiley face here)  ;D  I did catch the Comcast repair crew, the said I could have a fire too because PG&E (the electricity provider) has been energizing their lines so, sometime today, PG&E is sending repair crew and I have to catch them because since my services have not been affected, and my house did not catch fire, I should call them when one of the two aforementioned occurs.  Knowing how to have fun on a rainy day  ;D  Have the best day

Thanx Paul,

The cable people left without making repairs until the electric company makes theirs.  The electric guys have arrived, will check out my connections before they leave and this computer is close to the connection box, I'm not going anywhere as I have already voted and don't need anything in town.  Today has been stranger than fiction  ;D  Have the best day

With all the election excitement, I almost forgot...  Pacific Gas & Electric hired a third party to clear branches off some trees, last summer.  It was assumed the work was done but no one checked it out.  Wet branches shorted out the power lines during a rain which, in turn sent high voltage into the Comcast system, causing the two closest houses to get a power surge into the Comcast boxes.

My house is on the corner of our 1 lane, dead end road and wired through a different transformer.  Part of the charm of country living  ;D  Have the best day

Hey Phylatio,

That is the song and how could I forget.  There was a Nun from The City of 10,000 Buddhas coming over to my house back in the day, trying to get airtime on the radio station for her album.  She was the cousin of the bass player of Talking Heads who was getting a lot of airtime.  ;D  Have the best day

Indeed darling.  But forget that track and go buy Remain in Light as it's by far the best Talking Heads album.

Uh, 5.1 is by definition a digital format.  Vinyl is analogue.  I own the vinyl already.

I could have sworn I own the first version of the CD around here somewhere but I looked and couldn't find it.  I need to look again.

I lived with this guy who owned a record store, when records were made of vinyl and use to help out in the store after work and weekends.  Every dollar David had was in his store so he paid me in records.  Between us, we had more music at home than the local radio station owned.  The radio station offered him a job doing a rock show on Friday and Saturday nights so, we spent days working on the play list for (2) 4 hour shows each week.

We were having a party at our house the night when John Lennon was killed.  The Entertainment Editors from 2 newspapers, their girlfriends and another record seller and his wife were there.  We grabbed everything in the Beatles, John & Yoko, Paul & Linda McCartney, and George Harrison collections and took over the radio station for the next 24 hours.  That was the saddest day of my life.  ;D  Have the best day

Yeah.....that's what I've been doing...collecting whatever I can find that made it to CD, I also have a lotta LP's and 12" inches too, but, most of them never made it to CD yet? but, I have put most all of my Records on CD, but I still like the sound of the vinyl tho.......nothing in the world like firing up my 2 Techincs 1200 MK2's Turntables every once in a while
