No, a blocked nose has nothing to do with hiv. If you feel unwell, see a doctor. Whatever is going on has nothing to do with hiv. You weren't at risk for hiv infection.

Getting a blowjob is NOT a risk for hiv infection regardless of who is doing the blowing. They could be a man or woman or hiv positive with a viral load in the millions and it still wouldn't be a risk. Not only is saliva NOT infectious, but it also contains over a dozen different proteins and enzymes that damage hiv and render it unable to infect.

In adults, hiv is transmitted by:

Unprotected anal intercourse.

Unprotected vaginal intercourse.

Sharing drug injecting equipment.

And that's it.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED TO TEST FOR HIV OVER A BLOWJOB, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

There's no need for testing, John. You didn't have a risk. Period. Stop making drama and just get on with your life.

If any symptoms persist you should discuss them with your doctor. HIV is not the cause and you don't have the virus. Period.

im from London  in 2006 I had unprotected no ejaculation, im gay, since then the few times I had anal had been protected but oral unprotected,  in 2011 I tested using a swab test- oral swab- what I took at home and sent to a lab in London, it came out negative, since 2011 I have received oral only  and only 3 or 4 times until 2013/2014, I again tested neg using a oral swab test that again was sent to a lab and tested.
since the last test I have had oral again   receiving only with someone whose status I don't know, I also deep kissed a older man who told me his status was neg

I know you say that oral is safe- is that because of the long term studies that were performed, but were all these people who were positive on treatment?
mostly I am conscious, were the oral swab tests accurate, I did them twice and followed instructions, they were also well after the 14 weeks that the tests say to adhere to

I had a small rash after my oral session approx two weeks after exposure   it lasted about 2 hrs on my face it could have been a bite
also the other day, 6 weeks after I kissed a guy, I had a little rash or swelling on my chest, and a few pimples around it, it also went in two days, with no fever etc

the anxiety is killing me and I don't want to go through testing again as im sure ill have a heart attack, I don't do anal   not for at least 5 yrs and I don't give oral

ill prob end up being the first one in history to get hiv from oral

I come on here everyday as I do medhelp and I am amazed at the depth of knowledge you have

also has anyone ever come back and said they had tested positive after posting on here for oral sex issues

While the home hiv tests are all very well and good, you should be having a COMPLETE sexual health check up now and then. While you WILL NOT end up hiv positive from getting blowjobs, you  certainly can pick up other STIs such as herpes, gonorrhea and syphilis - and you can have these with NO obvious symptoms.

Quit being so squeamish and secretive and just go to your local GUM clinic and get a complete check up. It won't cost you a penny.

It's what responsible, sexually active adults do.

hi its 3 months since my oral exposure, I ordered a oraquick online from usa to uk and it arrives tomorrow, am so worried, I had a kissing and hugging exposure around 7 weeks ago, guy said he was neg, but if I would have been exposed will the oraquick pick any infection up

Hugging and kissing "exposure"? I don't know what the hell you think you may have been "exposed" to, but it certainly was NOT hiv.

You haven't had a risk. We've repeatedly told you that in adults, hiv is transmitted through unprotected anal and vaginal intercourse, and sharing drug injecting equipment. You haven't been engaging in those activities, therefore you have NOT BEEN AT RISK FOR HIV INFECTION!!!!!

Your hiv phobia is far outside the scope of these forums. I suggest you get counselling to deal with it - we will NOT deal with it here.
