Title: Stamina & HIV
Post by: hdgirl on May 11, 2010, 10:24:51 am
Wondering if being tired all the time is normal with HIV. Am currently on Truvada, Incentress, Prezista & Norvair..last CD4 670...Viral Load undetectable.
Have been noticing more & more lately that no matter how well I sleep I'm up for a few hours & feel the need to lay back down again.....seems to be getting worse then better.
recemtly was in a car accident & have been undergoing PT for my injuries & not sure if that may be realated since I'm unable to be as physical as I was prior with exercising although did not do it that often.
If this IS HIV related or related to meds will this get worse over time?
I also take a multivitaman, selenium, vitamin B12, Vitamin C & 1200 mgs of Calcium Citrate everyday.
Was diagnosed immediately after exposure on 12/31/08..started meds on 7/09.
Thanks so much for eveyone's help...advise in advance...just tired of feeling so tired all the time...just not me!

I'm not on any meds and only pos for 18 months but I can't say I feel any different at all.  Although whilst I was pregnant and taking meds I felt brilliant - although this could have just been the pregnancy glow (plus the lack of nightly vino and ciggies!!!)  I'm tired all the time now but only because I've not slept properly since having the baby 5 months ago.  It's hard to tell really.  Do you drink plenty of water?  I always find that helps with fatigue for me.

Another question - what were your numbers like before starting meds?  You seem to have started quickly, we've been pos for more or less the same amount of time.

Hdgirl, you have great numbers, so I would guess that the majority of your exhaustion may be related to the terrible accident you went through, and the physical therapy, which in itself can be exhausting.  However, if you don't feel better when your physical therapy is through, you may want to mention this to your doctor.

Also, have you had any depression lately?

I'm slightly anemic but I too am always tired. I find myself more tired now than before I was diagnosed. I can sleep 9+ hours easily a night if I was left alone. I'm not on meds because of no insurance but I was on Atripla and was tired all the time then too.
I take vitamins for my low iron and sleep as much as I can, screw it. Whatever makes me feel better and able to get through the day.

Knitty, Im tired all the time too. Really fatigued. Have to rest in the middle of folding a load of laundry sometimes. Doc doesn't seem to have any answers, I have been tested for everything you can imagine including a right heart cath because of being short of breath too. I just try to pace myself - but Im hoping this improves over time. I dont sleep so I take a ton of sleeping meds and I figure that could make me sluggish in the day too.
