In life we never know,
Never realise how important,
We are in each other’s lives,
We are put through the tests,
Of time and of life,
Of meaning and of love,
As a son who only knows
You as FATHER,
Not only to me,
But of my brothers and sisters too,
We walk this road as one
We live this life as one
We love this life as a family,
Never give up because we feel
Tired and scared,
But to hold on to that which makes,
Us feel complete as a family.
To us you are important,
To us you are love,
To us you are provider,
To us you are unique,
To us you are the best,
To us you are our only FATHER,
To our MOTHER a husband,
To your grandchildren a GRANDFATHER
DAD we love you,
And will always be there for you
As a family is suppose to be.

in february i wrote this for my father to tell him how special he is to me to my life. Well as hard as it is at this moment for me I think that he was a great father the best anyone could've asked for in this life. due to a long battle with cancer my father passed away on the 3rd of august 2009. I so miss him our chats and the compassion the two of us shared understanding each other as we both had to face up to some kind of trauma. Daddy I love you and will miss you dearly. Thank you for the most beautiful memories i carry with me.

Thank you it happened so sudden, though I am not angry at  him as it was his choice his time to go, I still love him to bits my heart will heal in time as his presence will never be replaced by another. I was blessed to have had him for 37 years in my life.

Go slowly now and keep close to loved ones. It may be more of a shock than you realise.

Mecch,

Thank you hon, I am past the shock maybe because when i told the family to take dad to a therapist i was laughed at I saw that he was in a depression and because what we are faced with at the time of diagnosis we can relate in more ways than one with cancer patients. I made my peace with dad and that is what matters to me, his spirit lives on in me his memories carry me through at this point his love for me is my pillar of strength.

we understood each other better than what we understood teh rest of the family.

I'm really sorry to hear about your dad.  It's wonderful to see that as a father and son you two were able to love and enjoy each other so openly and honestly.. Treasure that, it's rare.

How wonderful that you shared that lovely letter with your father -- too often we take our loved ones for granted.  Also, thank you for sharing it with us.
