I drive a big old Ford Crown Victoria.  (It's a very clean, smooth car).  All I need to do is add a couple spotlights and no one would be able to tell the difference between me and the pokey! :D

I go for quantity.  A '97 Toyota Avalon is my main car and is the best car I've owned.  I also have an old ('89) Dodge Ram for when I'm feeling really butch.  I'll drive the '89 VW Cabriolet for when I'm not feeling so butch.  If it's nice out like today, I'll ride my bike... the one in my avatar.

I am a car freak - my butch side... ;D

'94 Ford Aerostar...willed to me by my grandmother last summer.  It's one of the bigger styles of "minvan." I love big vehicles so much that I decided to sell my truck and make the van my wheels. My Mazda truck was the best vehicle I've ever owned, I had it for 9 years and it never broke down, but it was getting to that age where things were going to start needing fixing.  The van gets shitty mileage, but damn near zero emissions--as in zero carbon monoxide particles on high idle, and 2 particles on low idle.  It will definitely have to be moving in order for me to die in it.

Edited to say that I once had a Ford Escort (which is an anagram for Either Suck Cock Or Ride Train, author unknown) and when it crapped out a slow painful death I swore I'd never own another Ford, but the Mazda convinced me otherwise (it's the same thing as a Ford Ranger.)

My car I have had for 10+ years, the good old, 1994 Toyota Camry Wagon with mags and darkest legal tint.  Aka the shopping trolley or fridge on wheels.

The only car I actually own is a 1991 Ford escort but it's paid for and only has 66,000 miles on it.  sometimes my dad will let me drive the 1963 SS convertible Chevy II. Or The 1970 SS Chevelle with a 396 in it Or the 1972 Chevy Cheyenne. Seeing a pattern here. Can't wait for the 1964 SS Chevelle to be on the road. I will get to drive that one also. I love old Chevy's.   Cristy

I drive a 2003 Mazda Miata. Love it, especially on the narrow, winding mountain roads of the Western Slope of Colorado.

I also have a 1974 Ford pickup truck I inherited from my father. It is great for hauling things or when I want to look butch.

HUGS,

Hey Mark:  My brother used to own a Miata.  He got into an accident with a semi where he was hit head-first, dragged underneath the semi, and the top was down on the Miata.  He survived, and said he would own another one in a heartbeat!

HEy MIchael...

When my father died, my Mother asked us to clean out the garage and drive/tow the cars away.  My twin and I flipped a coin.  I got the 65 Mustang (my father gave it to my mother for their 25 anniversary) and my twin got the 53 MGT.  My father bought that new in 1953.  This was back in Colorado.  Both cars are now here -- and running -- in N. California.

Now that winter is over, it's time to get the 'stang out of the barn and give it a twirl.  I think I'll drive up to Grenada and visit my brother.  That's always a nice ride.

Hey Robert,

When my dad was still alive and working, he told me of a 51 MGTD that he saw in a barn.  We went to talk to the owner one fine day and when we arrived it's new owner was already there with a title and a car trailer.  I got a red 58 Corvette for my 16th BD, which I sold many years later to pay the first years tuition at HSU.

I took my LeBaron conv to Pick n' Pull the other day because they buy clunkers.  I hoped they would give me 500 bucks for it.  They offered $149.00 so I took it to a body shop to get an estimate on the door repair, they wanted 500 bucks to repair the driver door.  Guess I will be doing the "Dukes of Hazard" thing for the season.  Much easier to get in and out with the top down.  Have the best day

I just had my A completely restored, it took almost 2 years, and they took it down to the frame.  I have to go down to Florida and pick it up, after 2 years I don't trust having it shipped by a stranger.  I paid $150 for it when I was in high school and when I bought it the engine was frozen.  It has a lot of memories and I am glad I have kept it all these years.  J

I love the Celica. Very Speed Racer in design. I particularly like the ones with the wing spoiler. Toyota stopped selling the MR2 and the Celica at the same time and now they don't have any real sport models.

Same here.  I like my old Cabriolet, but a Miata is just so much sportier plus the top is a LOT easier to put up and down.  I've been looking at them on eBay this morning, in fact!

My first car was a Renault LeCar! It had the fabric roof that flipped back. It had a bulb on the floor for the windshield washer and if you slammed your foot down it would shoot water over the car and you could hit the car behind you. To get into the back seat the front passanger seat would raise up and go forward. I had to keep a hammer under the seat because the solenoid ignition switch would stick and you had to hit it loose to start it. It was a tuna can and I loved it. Ahh yes, driving around at 16 with my X-Man personalized plate and a "I brake for mutants" bumper sticker! No wonder I didn't have sex until I was 18! :D

I drive one of those cheap import cars. A Honda Civic, an 87, it is not a new car because being on ssi i can't afford a new car but this car is a very good one, no rust, dents or anything major wrong with it. If i could have any car i want it would be a Nissan Tittan, i love those things. Maybe one day i will find a man and he will be rich and i will be able to buy one of those or maybe one of the suvs that some people think are the only cars on the road that can go fast.

Hell, get busy for a week and miss out on a "Car Thread".

OK, I won't post all of them, but the 1999 Ford Ranger/Mazda is my current ride, of course also with my 2006 Suzuki C50C Boulevard.

I also just can't avoid inserting one of my all time favorites, my name sake Moffie, a grey market, 1989 Citroen 2CV, with German brush guard and driving lights, and custom Leather interior and custom "Charelston" paint in black and cream.

Please don't get me started, or I'll have to post photos of all of them from the past ....  ;)

Since Hubby sold his car and is driving mine to work ( a 93 Ford Explorer) Im looking for a newer car for me. Looking for a 2004 or newer. I want a small car that gets good gas mileage. When we do find one we like Im sure hubby will drive it to work since it will get better gas mileage than the Explorer. The Explorer has been a great car. I have never had any trouble with it and it has over 180,000 miles on it. Just wish it got better gas mileage.

Let's see now. do you want that alphabetically or chronologically? The fleet consists of a 1963 Cadillac Sedan de Ville, a 1957 DeSoto Firesweep station wagon, (something classy to haul the dogs to obedience lessons with). The there is the Sherman, the decrepit F-250 pickup, Bugs our '05 VW Beetle Turbo convertible. Erma is a highly classy and desirable '86 AMC Eagle 4x4 station wagon. Event though she only has a six cylider engine, she clearly is the greediest drinker at about 11 mpg in town. ( hey man, like, fossil fuels are dangerous man. And I gotta do my part to help rid the world of their evil presence) And last but not least are the motorcycles, a '94 Kawasaki Ninja, and an '82 GoldWing.

I love the 2CV, always wanted one of those for myself. The vehicle behind it in the photo, is that by any chance a Mehari? I've not seen one of those things in twenty years.....

Car thread?

my wife drives a Mini Cooper convertible, I drive a Jaguar XKR convertible  for pleasure, and I have a boring BMW Station Wagon for business trips.

Just recently, I traded my TVR Chimaera 500 against the XKR. I love English cars....But I must admit, I never had any problems with my BMW or my wife's Mini, the English cars on the other side can be a real pain in the ass when  it comes to reliability. The engines are no problem, but the  electrics must have gremlins built in as a standard feature...

Carl,

No, that isn't a Mehari, but a metal bodied derivitive made in Turkey.  I have no idea what the name of this model is, but rest assured, it is very rare, and the couple that owned it, imported it directly from Turkey brand new.  Now the yellow one behind the Krosley station wagon is in fact a Mehari.  I havn't ever owned one, but have owned three 2CVs.  Truly, wonderful cars, and a total blast to drive.  I see Milker wasn't impressed, but then he might have driven a 425cc version, instead of the 602cc, which is like night and day for simple performance.  I guarantee I could have given Milker a ride he would have written home about.  The 2CV was the only car ever to have an advertising campaign that if you could turn one over in regular driving, not on a race track; the company would ship you a new one, anywhere on the planet.  Believe me, more than one of us tried, thus resulting in more than one wet pants experience with passengers.   :o

Love,

Just the price one has to pay for the small scale, hand built buggie I'm afraid.

It really is a shame that TVR have gone out of business, (again) they are and always have been such beautiful machines, and of course the English eccentricity is an added bonus? ;)

If you want to try a real quality English built car try a  8) Bristol or an Aston Martin, 8) both have quality and style for those who can afford it.

I dream of a Vanquish.

Moffie,
Many years ago I was lucky enough to drive a very old deux chevaux, and was most impressed by the windshield wipers. They were driven off of the speedometer cable. The faster you went, the faster they wiped. If you weren't moving neither were they!

Just John, Brit cars are fun, I used to have a '55 Ford Consul sedan, with a bumper sticker on the back that read: "Why do the British drink warm beer? Because they have Lucas refrigerators!" I got the Consul in trade for a '60 Renault Dauphine that I had to get rid of, because my Newfoundland dog, @ 170 punds, was too big for it.

Yep!  :-[ that would just about explain the reason for the demise of most of the British Motor industry :'( although from what I read even you Americans weren't that much better

My father used to have a Consul, in winter he used to have to leave a heater under the engine or it just wouldn't start in the morning, eventually the inevitable happenned and oil dripped onto the heater and set fire to the car. After that he owned a Vauxhall PA Cresta, both cars where '50s designs and it was obvious that their design was strongly influenced by you guys across the pond. The Cresta particularly stays with me as a fabulously designed machine - oh! and the tailfins gave a useful hand hold for the push starts, hehehe.

             I drive a gold Chrylser 300 Touring Car (2006).......
             and its paid for!

I'm jealous, I want a 300C soooo bad.  Unfortunately all my money seems to go into the house, and then to travel, so my trusty 7 year old Cavalier is the vehicle du jour.

I have been driving a Chrysler Sebring convertible since 2001. It only has 45000 miles. I have been very very happy with it, never had ANY problem, I used it to drive cross country, and it was a breeze.

However it's 2007, I guess I should get a new car. I don't know the value of my car, but I guess not much, even with the extremely low mileage. I want a convertible, I don't like the new sebring. What else would you suggest?

Milker.

A Black 2006 Santa Fe Limited edition.
hubby has a 2006 Sonata limited edition  ...yes the Hyundai family...LOL
We just bought a 1991 BWM 325i convertible and it is the car we use the most.  You just have to have a convertible car in California!
and, although we have too many cars, we moved closer to our jobs and the train so we don't drive to work. I think we have the highest gas prices in the country here in SF Bay.

Milker, did you look at the new VW EOS?  Hot little car.  Also, there is the Audi A4 convertible.  My partner and I had a Mercedes CLK 230 convertible and it was a blast to drive although not real useful since it had no back seat.  I would say the BMW 3 series but twice my partner and I have walked into San Diego BMW and been ignored.  So, I will never, EVER by a Beemer.  I am not sure of your budget but if you wanted to stay under 30, check out the new hardtop Pontiac G6 it is not too shabby.

As for me, the time has come to replace my 2002 Buick Regal GS.  I have a short list of possible cars.....

1.  VW Passat
2.  Mercedes C320 (not out until this fall but I could pre-order)
3.  Audi A4
4.  Acura TL

The cheapest is the Passat and the most expensive the MB.  I have to start test driving this weekend .....

I drive a 2001 chevrolet. Yesterday I/we went out looking at motorcycles. Ed rolled his eyes at me  :P  seems to do that a lot lately  :)

He said "you do know how dangerous it is down here with all these old people driving?". I replied," we are those old people"   :o   well.....not all that old. Its just a number.

But I am seriously considering a motorcycle, to get me to work and back, and do some local driving. Still need the car though.
