Thanks for sharing this with us over here. As you're aware, I won't be sharing in the CSI forum. From what I've read on this side, the show is off to the poor start you mentioned, regarding Stella and her problem.

As I started reading your part to the writers, I was thinking Stella needs to find out that someone above her at work, or a co-worker, is HIV+, and she seeks their guidance and support. That's where they can take the opportunity to educate the world on the real issues and lives of those infected.

But of course you then mentioned something along those lines.

For the past 2 days, I've been feeling like my puppy ran away, and I can't find it. Now I'm at the point where my puppy is just hiding under the bed (if you know what I mean).

Thanks again, Peter,
me

Now, I hope, 'we,' meaning those of us who haven't run off, who are not hiding under our beds,  have to figure out how to make our puppies secure again, enough to come out from under the bed for something other than food, enough to feel like playing again, enough to trust 'us' again and to race to the door at the first hint of a walk outside.  Best, Win

Damn Peter,

You ripped them a new one in that letter.   Frankly, that Know HIV/AIDS should never have agreed to do a storyline like this or promote it.  I am unsure of their role in media or television exactly, but seems to me that whoever is handling that should be more responsible.   Whoever gave the green light on Stella's Big Scare with the "AIDS GLASS" should be ashamed!

I don't understand the chain of command with this whole project, but I consider myself a bit of an activist and I would never have agreed to such a ridiculous and far fetched scenario.   Several people have made creative suggestions within the forum to turn this around.

However, I will say that within the CSI forum itself people are exchanging ideas and questions.  I think that regardless of how Stella comes out the writers at CSI should really be doing some major rewriting.   While many of the CSI fans are focused on Stella only, there are some great conversations going on between people who really don't know much about HIV and members of this group.

I feel the CSI forum was a very innovative idea and whoever came up with that should be commended.   Regardless, of how the episodes turn out I feel that the interactive forum is a great opportunity to help break down the stigma and stereotypes associated with HIV and Aids.

Peter, like you don't have enough going on, I'd love to know how the chain of command goes with all parties involved.   Until you first posted the KNOW HIV/AIDS campaign I'd never heard of them.   I've been involved with various projects before and I know how things can be sugar coated and this is why I don't deal with the incompetent non profit groups anymore!   Once bitten, twice shy as they say ; )  Actually, I was bitten more than a few times.  I'll leave out the names cause I think we have enough drama.

However you feel right now with regards to privacy concerns I think it's in all of our best interests for everyone who is able to open up their minds to at least check out the forum before criticizing it.   If anything good came out of the whole CSI thing, this is it.  It doesn't seem CSI did a very good job at explaining the purpose of the forum, but there are some interesting and intelligent people who've taken their time to try and make a difference.

Thanks Peter for your hard work and the harsh letter.   I don't envy you right now and I guess we will see if the writers listen to all of those voicing our concerns, complaints and suggestions about the upcoming episodes.

Wesley

Peter, I appreciate what you've said in your post.  If nothing else, we can consider this a learning experience for all involved.  Maybe the show will take a more realistic turn, or perhaps another show will come along more suited to an HIV / AIDS forum.  Although quite a few of us don't like how things were handled and have expressed that, the fact that we continue to feel so strongly is, I think, due to how important the forums are to us.  It's also a learning experience in the 'Terms' of whatever that various forums use and of what not to post if we're concerned with privacy.

Ann should appear in the fourth episode to kick Stella's ass back into reality.

I'd watch CSI on the regular... or more than once even... if that episode came on.

Actually, I'd rather see Ann do that to the "pioneering" producer at a story conference.

Ann, has better things to do. She wouldn't want to break a nail on something such as this. You have to remember those nail jobs are expensive.  Peter is doing a fine job. That's what big brothers are for. :D

Peter,

Thank you for acknowledging the issues that this collaboration has inadvertently produced.  There's both "good" and "bad" sides to everything.  I'm glad you acknowledged both and not dismissed one for the other.  I believe there are other folks who appreciate this but are waiting for thing to cool down before resurfacing.
