Just to give some strength to others and courage them :
please just note your lowest CD4 number , the highest one and for how long are you living with AIDS .

So far, coming up on 2 1/2 years since diagnosis.

Last two counts before beginning meds:

December 2004: CD4 = 145

February 2005: CD4 = 89

VL was considered greater than a million.

EDITED FOR THIS: Oops! Forgot to give the highest one. Thus far, I think it has been 322 since meds, but it has dipped back down some since than and is typically hovering in the 275-300 range.

VL is undetectable now and has been since near the beginning of 2006. Started meds in late March 2005. Took 9 months or so to get the VL down.

Diagnosed in 1993- around 300-400 tcells. Don't know the vl. A few months later cd4 dropped below 200, and has stayed there since. Lowest cd4 was 5. I was working full time, felt great, no OI's at all.

Since then cd4 has gone up and down, but never over 200.

Highest vl was over 2 million when I was in the hospital in 2001.

Up until October 2005, I was doing pretty well. Since Oct, I have had a series of OI's, but am still hanging in there.

Hey, Christine! I have a question. I was told that my VL was likely closer to 2 million when I first got diagnosed, but the VL test results were "off the charts...greater than a million". I was told they wouldn't test any higher than that- greater than a million was enough to know, so beyond that was neither here nor there. Are there different tests that chart VL's higher up? Like some CD4 tests read <400 and some read as <50 for undetectable? I'm just curious. I think the feeling with mine was that there was no real point to testing VL any further (at public expense) since it was already known to be so high to begin with- how much higher was irrelevent. I am just curious if anyone knows if there are different VL testing methods and how high they can measure it up.

Gosh, this thread is already working! 5 CD4s? 1 ?! I'm feeling inspired already myself.

Without digging up copies of labs my lowest was something like 180 cd4 in late 1993 a couple months after diagnosis, though by that time I'm sure I'd been infected for 4-5 years.

My highest was July of last year at 1037 cd4 which was a response during my 2nd month of switching to fuzeon/prezista. So if any of you low count people need encouragement there it is -- however note that it took me 13 years to achieve that. Currently my cd4's have stabilized in the 800 range.

Also of note, I lived ever since the advent of VL tests with never achieving an undetectable marker until August of last year, but even during all o f that my cd4's continued to increase (though very slowly but consistently) as well as my %.

Diagnosed 1987.

Lowest Cd4 count: 53, Jan. 06
Highest viral load: 36,000, 3 years ago

Highest cd4 count: 700's for most of the 1990's
Lowest viral load: undetectable, for the past 7 months
Current cd4 count: 460

I didn't have any problems until 2001 - it's been a rollercoaster ride since then - I've been doing great so far this year, 2007, after my worst year, 2006!

1984 cd4 200ish as I recall .. they didn't have viral load back then.

02/07 cd4 77 viral load pending.

Doing well for 23 years!

Lowest 42 (7%) VL=100,000 (Sept 2005, started HAART too)
Highest 419 (18%) VL=67 (March 2006)
Current 342 (20%) VL=<50

I don't know how long I've had HIV. I can guess though: late 1990's

Tested positive in the spring of 2000

Currently 292
viral load undetectable since March 10th 2006

Hi! Just joined this forum this afternoon, so this is my first post!

My lowest readings were in September 2005, CD4 - 57 and Viral Load at 650,000
Highest was March 2007, CD4 - 425, Viral load undetectable.

My best set of results in 14 years, still smiling!

Which makes me want to re-ask my question from post #4 of this thread. Are there different testing methods for measuring VL? If so, what are they and how high can they measure? If anyone knows, post here or PM me.

This is another of the better current threads to me. Amazing to see how far people have come.

Highest cd4 has been 481, slowly climbing and my doc hopes it will still climb in the years to come.
