New integrase inhibitor

Details of GSK's new integrase inhibitor, which appears to be effective in patients who have developed resistance to Raltegravir (and presumably Elvitegravir).

This is great news, since I read somewhere that the new integrase inhibitor from Gilead, to be part of the QUAD pill would not work for those who have integrase mutations from raltegravir (Isentress).

I'm surprised that the study describes the use of this drug as monotherapy, I thought that was a no-no that could potentially lead to resistances.

The raltegravir-resistance issue is a test tube only finding, not anything in real life, but indeed that is very encouraging.

Gilead also has an integrase inhibitor in phrase 3 trials

Thanks for all the feedback.

I have a call into my doctor to discuss other options.

I should have joined this forum years ago.
