Title: I am mourning what once could have been a butterfly.

Things like this hurt me more than I can describe.

Hi Jaser

Sadly some people can't see beyond what they are actually looking at...and some simply don't have the intelligence to work it out.

Jaser,

I can totally relate. I don't like killing any insects, aside from parasites. My garden is full of many species of spiders and not only are they fascinating, but they also keep the the populations of other, less beneficial insects down. People forget that living things are living things - just like them.

And caterpillars are pretty cool too - especially the inch-worm varieties. I've left a patch of stinging nettles growing in the back of my garden (they're considered weeds and can give you a temporary rash from formic acid in their leaves) because they are good caterpillar and butterfly food. I try to grow as many butterfly food plants as I can because butterflies are becoming rarer and rarer in our toxic, polluted world.

Don't ever lose your compassion Jaser.

I have a huge spider living on the outside of my lanai screen.  Its a wood spider about 1.5" around, including legs.  I named her "Charlotte"   ;D

I am sad that my alligator was captured and turned into meat and shoes.  I was so pissed when the neighbors called the police when he/she was in my garage.  All we had to do was get out of its line of site and it took back off into the pond.  I kept telling them NOT to call.  I finally made them all move so we were out of its line of site and it left, walked around the house and went back into the pond.

A week later there were animal control officers in our community and they took 3 of the larger gators.  Hello... they were here first before we plopped a golf course and 750 condos on their land!   >:(

Anyway, you can see some of the pictures I took of MY GATOR (http://www.pharkness.com/4images/categories.php?cat_id=1).

Take care,
Patsy

Am I the only one who sees the irony here?
Jaser being saddened to see a caterpillar squished while he was out getting crickets to feed to his newts?  ???

don't make me feel guilty about taking care of my freaking animals.
i appreciate life enough so that i NEVER kill any living thing for no reason.

i keep rats, but i appreciate snakes need to eat rats in order to live. as long as theyre respected, it's cool, and i understand it

i would never squish a cricket for no reason. i buy crickets to feed my newts. but i respect them. i even bitch about having a big enough container to transport them in comfortably while im taking them home. i refuse to let them put them in a plastic bag.

there is a fucking difference between that and squishing a caterpillar for no reason.
