This is so sad. Valerie Harper has been given a few months to live. I loved her as Rhoda.

So sorry to read about Valerie Harper.  I always loved her on TV.

I can imagine what she and her family are going through.

I was sad to hear this. But I also heard in the background of some entertainment news program that someone who had worked with her was expecting her to survive and continue her humor and good spirit for a long time. Doesn't sound likely, but it's sometimes comforting when people admit they hang on to hope.

Very sad.  To beat lung cancer, which is rare unless caught early, and now this makes it more so.  I saw her on reruns.  And, of course her battle with NBC over her exit from "Valerie" to the lawsuit over using her name, after she was no longer on the show.  They changed it to the "Hogan Family" and brought in Sandy Duncan, right?  Think I am remembering that right.

I've been doing a lot of organizing this year, and going through old VHS tapes to transfer home videos to digital.  Anyway, I found a tape, where I recorded many news and entertainment shows, following 9/11--the first episodes back.  As all will remember, shows didn't return to the air until the following week, due to non-stop news coverage.

I found a video of Valerie on Rosie's first show back.  Valerie talked about not taking life for granted and how things can be over in an instant, so live life to the fullest, while you can.  Just thought it was poignant to see that, and now see she has terminal cancer.  I wasn't a big fan by any means, but always liked her.

On a side note, there was a clip where they were talking about rumors Whitney Houston had died from an overdose.  I guess I don't remember the death rumors in 2001.  Just found it a little eerie.

I was able to watch the last 1/2 hour of the show.  I have to say, in my opinion, that it was a very good show, informative, funny, celebratory and emotional at turns.  Valerie was wonderful, highly engaging and looked fabulous.  Cloris Leachman was funny as usual.  The audience appeared at rapt attention and mesmerized by Valerie.
