I was just going to write about in the "what do you do on WAD" thread and then I thought Naah this deserves a thread alone in the Living with & one has already been started... she was just SO EXCELLENT. It's so hard to interview like this esp on local radio with who appeared to be a very well meaning but not so experienced interviwer, and all those commercial breaks... Ann you absolutely ACED it, it was amazing, and listening to it live was somehow so heartwarming, to think that we can all be connected like that, I wish I was doing something like that and I see how necessary that is, it's so hard and you did it so beautifully, thank you so much you amazing woman!!!

Ann...that was a fabulous interview! Thank you for speaking out!

And a podcast will be available soon so you can download the whole damn show. Advertisements for double glazing included.
That notwithstanding, Our Ann did a magnificent job. Remember she just spoke on commercial radio in her own community and she deserves our accolades.
This is truly the work of an activist,

Hi Ann
You had shared with us this was coming. Did the Rock tremble slightly? Despite your recent challenge you persevered. I applaud your follow through and look forward to having access to the podcast.

Thank you, Ann. Matty is correct that to do this in your community is truly the work of a real activist and I take continued inspiration from you.
Matty - thank you for posting this.
Ann, Please let us know when the podcast is available...some dumb bloke has been listening for the ten minutes before realizing he misunderstood the original post and link. ::)

Is there a link specific for the podcast?

Thanks everyone!
I've got such a weird voice. No wonder I'm always being mistaken for a man over the phone. I've had telephone arguments with people who don't think I am who I say I am. Guess they think I'm a nosey husband or something, wanting to know who is ringing his wife. ::) ;D
I hemmed and hawed a bit more than I'd hoped, but at least my brainfog wasn't quite as bad as it was yesterday. I just listened to the podcast and was cringing at all the points where I knew I was frantically searching for a word. I hate that....
During one of the breaks we were talking about how there's so much more that needs to be said and he said I'd have to come back in a couple months. I jumped on that and suggested I come back on the anniversary of my diagnosis - February 22nd. He thought that was a good date, so watch this space! We had another email come in (after) from someone wanting to know about what support there is in place here and did I think the government was doing enough to educate people, so we decided that could be the theme for next time.
You can listen to the podcast at the link below - and be happy they take the advert and music breaks out.

The link opens Windows Media Player on my computer - I'm not sure how you'd listen if you don't have that program on your computer.
Thanks again for all the support and thanks, Matty, for starting this thread.
Hugs,
Ann

There was only one thing wrong with it: it was all too short. You are indeed an inspiration.
-
Damn, I missed it! Can anyone give me a review?
Thanks! I'm sure it was awesome!
-
Thank you for the additional comments! Your kind words are giving me added confidence to not only do more radio, but also to pursue going into the schools here. I've finally managed to find a government contact who will be able to help me achieve this goal.
Jeffrey (and anyone else who "missed" it,) you can still hear the interview by going to http://www.manxradio.com/audiovault/HeadsFRI-1.wma This link should work until next Friday (December 7th) when the next Friday edition of Talking Heads has aired.
Thanks for listening and giving me your feedback, everyone, I really do appreciate it.
Hugs,
Ann

Terrific interview Ann - I can't imagine doing anything braver, short of going back to North Dorset and going on the radio there (broadcasting to 101 closely related people)...
It was very moving, and your passion and commitment really came across - I'm sure it gave everybody listening, especially untested negative people, a lot to think about - I know it did me.
It was great to hear you resist the phone-in (and the radio station's media bias) to narrow things down to the promiscuous; gay men and IVDUs. "H" stands for human!
Thanks for doing this.
