Title: Chicago activities
Post by: bocker3 on July 19, 2013, 07:47:05 pm
Anyone considering buying a CityPass for Chicago?  It not only saves money, if you want to go to the covered sites, it saves time -- as in using a VIP line instead of general admission.

I'm definitely buying one and I posted another link also.  It'll cover the trams and buses which we'll need if going to the respectable fun spots.

Goodness, don't any of you read my posts?  LOL  it covers the tram and city buses.  You need both to navigate the city.  I'm wasting a fortune just on ink alone printing off everything.  Doesn't matter, I'll still mess up at first.

When I was there in May, we took an architectural tour on the Chicago River...a lot of companies do them.  You spend an hour on a boat and have a guided presentation about the diverse architecture in downtown Chicago.  It was one of the best tours I remember ever taking.

Highly recommended!

Goodness gracious, I've never been to a bathhouse and am not about to start now at my age.  I'm a bit prudish in that way.  Remember, I couldn't even enter the downstairs "show" while in Seattle?

we'll be staying about 4 miles from all the great night life areas that are easily accessible from the hotel.  And yes, I have a map for that.   ;D  Also to the Ohio Beach, restaurants and such.  My goal is not get lost once.

Yes Gary, the Chicago River taxi tour is great fun.  As you know the river snakes through the city and you see many great sights.  When I was there we got down from the Sears tower (since renamed) and walked right over to the river for the taxi to the Navy Pier.  From there you get the harbor boats to the museums.  On a hot day we were there the spray from the harbor taxis on your face felt great.  Fun town, I know you will all have a great time there.  I'll miss going this year but there is always next year!

Jody :)

The city pass sounds like a plan to me.

Oh, does the Steamworks have a geriatric night?  ::)  That might be more appropriate in my case.

HUGS,

Mark

North Halsted Market Days

I'm not sure if it has been already mentioned or not, but North Halsted Market Days are on August 10-11. Market Days is second only to Pride as far as Chicago LGBT festivals goes. Boystown will be rocking. It is one of high holidays of the Chicago Gay Calendar. Come on up and enjoy.

I just checked the weather forecast for Chicago and it looks about as perfect as we could ask for! Highs in the mid 70's, mostly sunny, with very little chance of rain the entire time. :)

We've been having weird weather patterns in this region and I'm torn about how to pack.  I might have to re-evaluate the checked luggage thingy.  I was planning on doing the whole "butch" thing and only traveling with carry-on.

Um, "butch" and filling your carry-on with 6 pairs of assorted spike heeled pumps doesn't compute. ;D

Could you seriously see clumsy ass Wolfie in heels?  A thought occurred to me last night; when I went to Seattle, I returned with a plantar wart.  I never had one in my life and I even took shower shoes and assumed I got it at the hotel.  Then I got to remembering; I wore loafers and was required to be barefoot through screening at the airport.  That is quite gross to think of all the 1000's of germ/fungus ridden footsies before you.
