Big thank you to our LTS family
« on: December 20, 2010, 03:31:18 pm »
I am what you would call a newbie,  and I have been doing A LOT of research,  and having lots of conversations with my doctors and POZ friends.  It is clear that I  (we)  owe a big thanks to those that have been slugging it out with HIV from the early days.  I know that it is not a perfect world,  and it sucks that I have this Virus,   but I'm  glad it isn't as bad as it was.  I understand that there are still possible side effects,  and that the stigma is still alive and well,  but I'm also aware of the giant strides that have been made in treatment.  My doctor has been dealing with HIV from the beginning,  and has told me about "the Old Days" that hope was in short supply,  I can only imagine.   I know that it gets tiresome to listen to the Newbies reassuring themselves with the advancements and manageability of HIV as it is today,  and I just want to say thanks for paving the way with testing and trials,  imperfect meds and unknown side effects,  and MOST importantly not giving up and showing us that we can live,  and live well.   Because of you,  and what you went through  we all are able to make headway to better treatments and eventually (Soon I'm sure)  a cure.

I'll drink to that 40...and welcome to the forums.

I have been here 7 years and without the sage advise from the experts and the LTS'shere, not to mention the support I have been given I think I have given up long ago.

Take notes, that is how you enter a forum!

Welcome 40.  Lots of great advice here.  Anything you need just ask.

What an incredible way to introduce yourself and being a LTS, your tribute and thanks were genuine and heartfelt.  I am rarely at a loss for words, but your words have touched me deeply, for so many reasons and for that, I thank you.  I look forward to getting to know you and welcome to the forums.

Welcome.  Thanks for the kind words.
Being honest is not wronging others, continuing the dishonesty is.
