Just got the UD call!
« on: February 14, 2011, 04:17:50 pm »
Well it's here!  My doc just called to tell me my second labs are back and Atripla has kicked those little buggers to the curb.   ;D

I was not expecting her call so I have to admit it was a little overwhelming hearing the word "UNDETECTABLE" come from her mouth.

I knew this day would eventually come, but I didn't want to get my hopes up.  Now that it's here I just wanted to share my good news!

I hope you all have a great Valentines Day!     :P

Congratulations, my friend!!!

I have no doubt that you will be UNDETECTABLE very soon.  But why you are doing your test almost every month.  Where is the money comming from for the test ;D .  Doing test is not that expensive in your area.   8)

Thank you all for the support!

Last night was perfect!  Undetectable was the best Valentines gift we could have asked for... (and it had nothing to do with the fact that my husband and I had decided when I first found out I was poz to not have sex until I reached UD...  OKAYYY!)   ;D ;D ;D :P

Congratulations, my friend!!!

I agree but they kept spitting out some sort of standard form some medical society stating "once starting treatment, VL should be tested monthly until undetectable"!  (Honestly they are really looking out for my best interest)   ;)

I tested 30 days after I started Atripla, my VL had dropped to 210 and my chronic swollen glands behind my jaw had gone away.  I told them I was in no hurry to test every month because I felt it was a waste of my money...  (But honestly my main reason for wanting to wait a little while between tests was to give the meds time to work!  Getting tested every month only to find out "close, but not yet" would have seriously messed with my mind!)   You see such a wide spreed of how fast or slow we each reach UD.

I was able to skip a month but they insisted on doing it after two months so I did.  From the day I started meds to the second blood draw was 82 pills.

Now that I'm there they said every 3 or 4 months to test is fine.

As for the cost, they charge me $150 for a VL test and $52 for a CD4 / CD8 / CD3 / % test.  (insurance pay only 65% so I have to cover the rest)
