Where to buy Alere Determine HIV 1/2 Ag/Ab Combo Test online?

Dear all

Here in Hong Kong, wish to buy the above mentioned rapid test kit from online sources. It is not available in Hong Kong nor in China although there is a representative in mainland China.

I had an experience that hospital result shows +ve RT-PCR but -ve Ab, and after 2  weeks, the Ab rapid test is still -ve. I dont want my partner to undergo un-necessary ups and downs of being told a false result by commonly available Ab rapid tests, that's why I  am so desperate to look for the Alere Ag/Ab combo test to eliminate the possible outcome like what I experienced.

The Alere Determine hiv 1/2 Ag/Ab Combo test is NOT a home test kit. That's why you can't find it. As far as I'm aware, there are no approved home test kits available in Hong Kong at this time.

You don't say what you think put you at risk for hiv infection. Unless it was unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse, you're probably worrying needlessly.

If you HAVE had a risk, the earliest you should test is at six weeks. The vast majority of people who have actually been infected will seroconvert and test positive by six weeks, with the average time to seroconversion being only 22 days. A six week negative must be confirmed at the three month point, but is highly unlikely to change.

The test you're after tests for hiv 1/2 antibodies, and also the p24 antigen. The p24 antigen is only present in the first two or three weeks. Once enough antibodies start to be produced, the p24 antigen disappears.

If I'm reading you correctly, you have had a positive PCR test result. PCR tests have a high rate of false positive results - particularly the DNA PCR. The DNA test is not approved for diagnostic purposes, but some doctors use them anyway. Only the RNA PCR test is approved, but it can also return false positive results.

Please clarify if you were talking about PCR testing.

Also, it would be helpful for you to clarify what you think put you at risk, and also where you are in the testing window period.
