In need of urgent help!!
« on: November 07, 2008, 03:02:25 pm »
Hi everyone, I am writing asking anyone who lives in the state of indiana for help. My boyfriend is possitive, and has no insurance, he is working with a new care coordinator, and they are working to get him meds at no cost until he is elligible for insurance again..However they say it can take weeks to start getting his meds. I have found a pharmacy that will donate Lexiva and norvir for him, but he needs truvada.. He is completely out. Ive tried all possible options and no luck. Can anyone please help me in this task to find him the meds he needs..I would appreciate all help! Thanks a million!!

Have you been to a Doctor for him and have they done all the tests?

Have you been to the health dept. with the tests results?

Has he applied to medicaid and Social security Disability?

Is there an ASO you can go to or help?
1997 is when I found out, being deathly ill. I had to go to the hospital due to extreme headache and fever. I fell coma like,  two months later weighing 95 pounds and in extreme pain and awoke to knowledge of Pancreatis, Cryptococcal Meningitis, Thrush,Severe Diarea,  Wasting, PCP pneumonia. No eating, only through tpn. Very sick, I was lucky I had good insurance with the company I worked for. I was in the hospital for three months that time.

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

He has been possitive for about 5 years. He has state insurance, and basically what happened is the place he was going through to get the insurance and help kept switching care coordinators on him frequently. and he didnt recieve important papers to renew his insurance, so they suspended it for a year..He has to wait that long to get insurance again. So we found a new place to go through, and they are working on getting him his meds back, but its going to take some time, and we dont want him to stop taking them and take any chances. He has done really good thus far. Thanks for you posts. And Ann thanks for putting me in touch with lisa. I will pm her! Thanks again

oh and I forgot to mention he is out of his meds and has been now for about 4-5 days. We can get ahold of the norvir and the lexiva, but still need the truvada. Oh and I see i made another error, he had insurance..not has, but now its gone.
