Been 10 days, it sums up what I have been feeling..

It's not one of the better poems.. I wrote and sent one to my ex when he decided to break up with me 3 years ago.. it didn't help but like this time I felt much much better after expressing my feelings in words.

Hang in there....we all go through all these different emotions as we just tested poz. up and down, fear and anger, questions like why me, what are the odds, why was i so stupid, will i find anyone to love me....

I have been sad, I have been ok since I got diagnosed. The other day when i was at work staring at my computer screen, I looked ok on the surface, but inside my heart, i was crying...

you are not alone...thank god for internet and we can all communicate and support each other from all over world...and thank god for better and improvement treatments. I know we still have a long life ahead of us and we just need to live it fully.

Hi Mesu

I am actually having my first really "up" day since the result.. ::) .. dancing a bit and playing air guitar to my favorite music (ever heard of this British band called "Dodgy"? they only have one or two minor hits back in the early 90s but it brings back good memories)

I was on a short business trip last week and on the way back home last night I suddenly had those lines coming together in my brain (they call it "muse").. really bad poetry I know but after writing them down I felt really really relieved.

Like you I have been working, but mostly I couldn't really function much and in times I felt I was going to break down.. but for better or worse I held it back and the emotion needed to go somewhere.. and for me I think this few lines of bad poetry helped me in releasing these negative but real emotions.

I still don't know if I would be joining that Foundation's support group next week. As I told you I wanted to see my first set of stats first; but if you have signed up you really should go. Being able to talk to my friends, the peer counsellors and social workers in the Foundation and the QE clinic really helped me to get through the last few days.

Life moves on, ain't it? First it'd been a week, now it's entered double digits, and soon enough I hope we'll accept it as part of us.

Yes, music plays such a big part in my emotion sometimes. Right now, I am listening to my music right now...the one which i always listened to (before i was diagnosed), the one that make me feel happy. I remember the week i found out i was positive, my brother gave me a CD by Mika....i was listening to the songs, those are good songs, but i was crying and crying in my liviing room as i listened to them. Every time i listen to that CD, i feel sad, as it reminds me of the terrible feeling i had during the first week of my diagnosis. So now I decide not to listen to that CD anymore... :)

I will have my cd4 result next week and discuss with the doctor my condition. I am a little nervous right now but I know further into the process i will have less fear.

shaun, glad that you have a 'up' day and you will have a lot of 'up' days :).....i still go out with my friends and have a drink or two, enjoy sunny weather, excercise.... life goes on. i think the key is to live the life with faith, positive attitudes, healthy lifestyle and good karma.

Hi, the poem was nice, i believe there are not bad poems... just poems written for a different taste. I used to write a lot years ago... specially when i was sad... but i didn't write any poem since i got diagnosed, i got blocked.. i guess i felt Hiv didn't deserve a poem from myself... or perhaps i just didn't know what to say or i didn't want to cry once more... so glad you could manage to put your feelings in words, it is a great great thing.

Hi JC,

You will find a way back to writing if it's inside you. For me this few lines were very therapeutic. I was on a ferry back home after a very delayed flight, and it was after 2 days of very bad meetings as I was unable to concentrate. I felt stressed and tied but once I got home I wrote down those lines in 2 minutes, and immediately I started to feel much much better.

Today is my first "up" day since my diagnosis and I know it has a lot to do with me being able to write down my feelings. I know I have more days ahead that will drive me nuts, but no matter what happens I know if I can put my feelings in words somehow I know I have an outlet.

Go back to your own writings JC.. pick up from where you were.

Yes Mesu, I am afraid that CD is now no good to you, though for a while his single "Grace Kelly" was playing in my iPod constantly.

Our mind remembers good and bad moments equally vividly, and it knows how to associate our feelings with certain outside stimulation that we received at the time. Like when I took my first trip to Europe years ago I brought a cassette (yes! it was 1992) of an old album by a 60s band called "Love" in London at the first week. Other than a few of my own compilation tapes I bought that was all I had with me the whole 2 months while I was traveling up and down Eastern Europe. Now whenever I play that album it remains of those days.

There must be some music, or even a smell, perhaps your favorite foods, drinks, etc that can bring back that happy feeling. I can speak only for myself but I think now I need this happy stimulation more so than ever.

Love Chris Rock's stand-up shows, though I prefer to watch them on DVDs and I am actually more of a fan of Dave Chappelle.
