Title: niacin (B3), cranberry, and hiv
Post by: liketheboat on June 10, 2011, 07:23:23 pm
i am in athe process of looking for a new job, and have been known to smoke a bit of pot. If i end up applying at a company, or get offered a job that does drug tests i would like to be able to flush out my system realitivley quickly. i am a pretty small guy 5'8'' 130lbs with very little body fat. So i am not worried aobut it taking the typical four weeks. I have flused my system of thc in the past by drining lots of wather (which i do anyways), and taking more niacin (not at lot more, but just a 500mg supppliment) in addition to my standard multi. and also take cranberry pills (which i have always liked to take anyways everyonce in awhile, as there is a small history of kidney disease in my family).  Now i have never done this since being diagnosed as positive. And am woning if there is any known interactions with those two supplemnts and hiv infection, or AIDS drugs (i am currently on atripla). Thank you all for your time.

If memory serves, one of the AIDS medications can trigger false pot positives. Perhaps you can be blaming this? :)

I did think about that. And i think that all depends on how sensative the assy is that they use. and a false positive can be confirmed with a levels test. And i would prefer to not disclose my status. But i will if need be.

If you know you are job searching right now, then stop smoking pot for a while.

If that's not an option and depending on the relationship you have with your HIV doctor, you could always ask he/she to run a urine test for you and tell you whether or not you're testing positive for marijuana.
