I just saw a commercial on TV for this event, being held on October 6th in DC.  I have never walked to support HIV/AIDS, but I am considering it.  You would have to be down at Freedom Plaza in DC around 9am, no later, and the registration fee is $25 ($15 for students).  I am about an hour and a half away, in Frederick, would have to Metro in from Shady Grove.

Is anyone in the DC area planning on attending this?  I have no one to go with, but would really consider it if I could get a few people on board.  I am diabetic and walking a 5K may put me into shock, but I can try!   ;D  Let me know your thoughts.

Hey Cindy
If I was near, I'd walk with you. I did the walk here in California a couple of times. In fact I walked for my partner about 6 months after he passed away. I was a wreck then (well ok at times I still am lol), but my friends helped me make it through. Plus I got to raise a lot of money for the agencies he had been involved in.

You should try to do, it could be fun. I'll be there in spirit with ya

Lisa had a great post recently about marching on Washington...It's never too soon but with presidential elections next year it would be prudent to do so at an equally appropriate time and place in the capital to make our political parties acutely aware of the needs of not only those of us living with HIV but also national health care issues for all Americans with the young, old and in-between being invited as the issues of health care, affordable housing, jobs for all and the seemingly endless war that bring together HIV groups, unions, tenant activists, peace in Iraq groups, gay rights activists, etc....a myriad of issues of great importance to defeat the arch-conservatives who have left so many behind and are blind to suffering it would seem.

It's never too soon to plan for say Spring 2008 !!!

Cindy -- Sorry I missed it! How did you do?  If you want I will put it on my calendar and walk with you next year.  The one in Baltimore got absolutely no press and I'm pretty sure I didn't hear about the DC walk -- and I live in Owings Mills.

I didn't make it to this walk, but thanks to those of you who responded.  I even joined a support group in mid-September, but couldn't get anyone motivated.

Jody~  Yes, I saw Lisa's post about the DC march that she wanted to organize.  I just haven't gotten any feedback, but will be there with bells on!
