Title: ELISA 3 GENERATION AFTER 9 WEEKS :s help
Post by: miriam6 on July 31, 2011, 01:18:11 pm
Hi..I'm sorry, my english is very bad..(I speak spanihis).so I'am doing the best possible.
I', 22 years old. I had a anal sex with a man (i'am woman) without protection. He told me that He didn't had nothing, we talk about it as 5 times, but I met him for internet, I was feel alone...I was loser...and we didn't have a serious relationship  but we had a lot of troubles because I was very nervous, very stressed, sad ..so we  broke communication. However, He always was clear about he is healthy and I may need a experience like that and think about it. His last message was like that.
The last, can be it's no matter, but I need to said it.
After 9 weeks of exposure, I practiced a Elisa (3 generation). The laboratorist told me that the test was very realize after 9 weeks and relaxed you.
The test was negative.
I have 11 weeks after of exposure. So I have a two questions :

- Is safe the test after 9 weeks? How much?

-Can i practice the test now (11 weeks) o i should wait for practice it one or two weeks more? (12 weeks or 13 weeks?

I'll hope your answers. Thank you

Miriam,

The vast majority of people who have actually been infected with hiv will seroconvert and test positive by six weeks, with the average time to seroconversion being only 22 days. A six week (or more) negative result is highly unlikely to change, but MUST be confirmed at the three month point. In Europe, twelve weeks is considered conclusive.

You have had a risk so you did the right thing and got tested. Although I do not expect your result to change, you do need to confirm your nine week negative result at twelve weeks.

If what I've written is difficult for you to understand, you may want to try again in the ¿Estoy infectado? (http://forums.poz.com/index.php?board=25.0) forum.
