Job Posting: Director of Community Affairs

National Association of People with AIDS (NAPWA)

Job Type: full-time

Deadline Date: 8/15/2006

Position overview: The Director of Community Affairs will oversee NAPWA Community Affairs program.

Position Duties:
• Develop NAPWA membership program
• Organize volunteer program
• Supervise Community Affairs staff and program
• Communicate with NAPWA partners and constituents regularly and appropriately on public policy issues
• Implement new Community Affairs initiatives
• Write reports and grants as necessary
• Coordinate at least one (1) major national meeting with NAPWA constituents or partners
• Represent NAPWA and its constituents at various professional and community events
• Document work process, goals, objectives, successes and challenges
• Collaborate with other NAPWA staff as needed

Desirable Qualifications:
• Experience with volunteer coordination and membership programs
• Strong writing and communication skills
• Integrity about work products
• Commitment to NAPWA constituents
• Comprehensive understanding of communities affected and infected with HIV and AIDS
• Critical thinking skills and problem solving
• Excellent computer skills, including standard office applications as well as a willingness to learn other relevant technology
• Demonstrated ability to work on a team and manage staff
• Bi-lingual is helpful but not required

Minimum Education & Experience: Seven (7) years of experience in relevant programs (such as volunteer coordination, membership development, public health administration, etc.) in a senior position; or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field plus six (6) years of experience; or a Masters or other graduate degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field plus four (4) years of experience.

Desired Start Date: August 2006, pending funding

Salary & Benefits: $65,000 – $70,000 per year, depending on experience. Benefits are highly competitive.

I found a news release dated January 2006, telling of a new director's appointment, that may negate the previous job posting which did not have a date on it. I apologize if I've misled anyone--but, I'm still not 100% certain if this position is open or not. Would advise, if you are interested, to check directly with NAPWA.

If someone was appointed in Jan. '06, they didn't stick around long...

I had no idea these types of positions paid as much.
