Shoud I or Shoudn't I
« on: October 07, 2006, 08:06:42 am »
My 2nd labs came in and my doctor say that it's better if I don't start meds just yet, but I want an 2nd opinion. I have no symptoms. Well I'm tiered a lot but other then that I'm fine.

1st labs       CD4 749  and VL 48,000
2nd labs      CD4 823  and VL 51,000

And also he said that I should get pap smears every 6 months, is that right?

Diamond,

I've moved your thread to the Living Forum, where it will get more responses that it will in Nutrition where you originally posted it.

Your numbers look great and I agree with your doctor that you don't need meds yet. Make sure you get them checked every three months to keep an eye on them and look out for trends.

My doc recommends PAP smears twice a year too, but I usually only have it done once a year.

Armondo, actually, it is recommended that men with hiv have regular ANAL PAP smears. A PAP smear checks for changes that might indicate a precancerous condition. This cancer is usually caused by the human papilloma virus - which is also a cause of genital warts. Check out the HPV Lesson for more information.

Hi Diamond,

What Eric said. Your numbers are great! ;D

Just remember to check them regularly. Every three months is pretty standard.

As for the PAP smears, yep. It's good thing to do. I have yet to do it, but that's another story.

HUGS,

Hello Diamond,

Those numbers are great! Just as everyone has said, check-in with your Doctor regularly and keep an eye on your levels. It is your choice when you should start meds.

Hi Diamond,
Looks like you are fairly new here and I wanted to give you a warm welcome.  I see you are 31 y/o female.  My name is Rachel and I am a 32 y/o Female.  I agree with everyone else.  Your numbers are great and no need to go on meds yet but do have them checked every 3 months.  As for the Pap Smears it is recomended for HIV+ women to get them every 6 months.  I hope to hear more from you there are some realy great people hear who have great advise.  And if you question anything that doc tells you just run it by here.  There are some realy educated people here.  Again welcome .  Rachel
