I FINALLY found an ASO
« on: July 20, 2008, 08:44:20 pm »
The family and I were driving home from the grocery store when a brand new billboard jumped out at me.  It was advertising a place called Caritas House.  I remembered that they were the ones who sent a nurse to our house while we were waiting for Mini's diagnosis.  The nurse came over once, for a couple of hours, then we never heard from her again.  When I was looking for ASO's in our area, that's what I looked for, ASO's.  So, anyway, the billboard said that Caritas House is the only ASO and is part of the United Way.  I looked up their website and it had some interesting information. Just not sure why they aren't listed as an ASO and registered with DHHR.  So, for anyone else who can't find an ASO and your local DHHR hasn't got a clue, you may try calling the United Way.

Mum, I'm so glad you found an ASO close.  Maybe they can assist you with some things in the future if need be.

That's great news!   Birmingham AIDS Outreach (my nearest ASO) has been a godsend for me the past couple of years.

Mum,

I just looked them up online and though just a cursory glance, I think you found a good agency based off of the services offered.

I hope all goes well with intake and that they serve you and your wonderful family well.

Glad you saw that billboard! I hope they excel in every area. You might find that they excel in some areas and are just blah in others. I base this on my ASO, who are pretty awesome at teaching us how to slice through governmental red tape.

Good tip Mum. Sometimes I wish I could snap my fingers and instantly add ultra-clarity to this muddled planet.
