Snakes on a Plane?
« on: August 19, 2006, 12:36:43 pm »
My son (he's 13) and I went yestersay to see that movie.  We left after 30 minutes.

Yeh, I know it was "R"-rated, but he's seen "R" stuff before in some movies (after I screened them), but this one was just way "out there".  The lagnuage we might have gotten past (althoug he said he got really tired of the "f" word being used so much), and maybe some of the violence, but it was WHERE the snakes were biting the humans that we decided we wanted out.  One bit a girl full on her nipple (with fully exposed breasts trying to get into the mile-high club with her boyfriend), then next was a snake fully engulfing a man's penis when he was trying to urinate (use your imagination as to how he was gripping the snake), and the 3rd (which is when we left) was a snake going up a seated womans dress.

We've played Counter-Strike since he was 8 (and he pwned everyone after he got going), Half-Life, Half Life 2 and other PC or XBox games, so he understands movies/games are just that (and we do screen the games for language/violence).  So he knows when to walk out on a movie.

We felt that movies went a bit too far in it's genre.

Um, that's why they give it an 'R' rating, so you know not to take your 13 year old kid to it.  ::) In Australia it's a criminal offence to take a minor to an 'R' rated film.

Australia also has box jellyfish that can kill people with like a fraction of one tentacle.

Snakes On A Plane < Box Jellyfish.

Matty, it should be a criminal offense here. It's ridiculous the movies people take their kids to.
I went to see "descent" this weekend and there were several under ten children with their irresponsible parents and it was wonderfully gruesome. Bitches be bad.

Snakes on a Plane! This must be a comedy right. I think the movie critics, all of them, gave the movie an f- rating. What a waste of talent and money. Has SNL done a skit on this yet?
Damn the Torpedoes! Full speed ahead! Adm. D. Farragut.

Started Atripla 8/18/06 and if I eat the right food when I take my meds, I get to go on a-trip-la.

Oh my goodness duped by Hollywood again. I saw the trailer and thought "Snakes On A Plane" had "Oscar" written all over it. Who would have thought it was nothing but crass commercialism geared to the teenage market. How could I be so gullible? Suffer the little children.
