I keep on hearing about atripla...not licenced here yet as far as I know, but is it true its a one dose a day drug? If so any ideas when available in UK? Are there trials? Whats it like? When can you take it? Aftter which combi threapy? Know thats shedloads of questions but having real adherence problems with my drugs..some psychological, some practical, and would rather ask people who are taking it initially, hows it working, hows your numbers etc?

atripla is simply three pills in one (sustiva, viread and emtriva). so, if you are having problems with sustiva, it probably isn't going to help.

Hi Tigger,

I just looked at my notes from my January appointment where the Wizard and I talked first-line combos. He did indeed say that Atripla is not yet approved for use in the UK, but he expects it to be approved by the end of the year.

Although atripla is likely to be approved in the UK by the end of the year, the price will determine whether it is prescribed or not. As truvada is viread + emtriva, it will basically replace a 2 pill once daily regimen with a 1 pill once daily regimen. The NHS is unlikely to fork out extra for a pretty marginal advantage like that, if atripla costs more.
