Fluoxetine
« on: November 20, 2013, 06:06:45 pm »
My doc put me on 10 mg of fluoxetine for 2 weeks and then I will start 20 mg/day.

On Veterans Day, I started on Complera after being on Norvir, Truvada and Prezista for a few years.  I am also on pravastatin and we are hoping with the Complera, I can stop it after my next lab draw.

I have been self medicating with mary jane but is hard to do with kids around and this is what the doc thought might help with my anxiety/stress level.

Has anyone had any luck with this med?

Thanks!

I've never tried that but wanted to wish you well.  I've been on this same statin with great success.  We experimented to determine if I could discontinue it after achieving optimal results.  NOPE, one I stopped, they worsened and I restarted them again achieving optimal results.

Just curious, is there a reason you want to stop it?

Thank you!  Mainly, because after a time it is not good for your liver, and the complera should help my levels.  We are going to see how things look after my next labs.

Prozac has helped me.  I didn't have the sexual side-effects I had with other meds.  And, I think it worked for my depression.  But, everyone is different.  It may not work well for you.  Time will tell.

Good luck.

Dang it, lost my reply.

Thank you!  I am kind of surprised that they chose Prozac over pot, especially since they just passed the medical marijuana thing here. I guess it makes sense since they are federally funded. The side affects seem kind of crazy. I am going to try my best to think things are going to get better and not worse.

Hope you are having a good day!  Thanks for your reply.  Snow

I was on Fluoxetine 20mg/day back in 2009. It helped me pedal through a rough patch. It made me not care what other people think of me - to me that was a great relief - and gave me a sense of serenity I never felt before. It also made me less irritable, more sociable. On the other hand all, I wanted to do on it was watching Netflix and eating ice cream - like going back in childhood.

Unfortunately, it also lead to anorgasmia so I stopped it. Years later I tried it again and not only it instantly gave me anorgasmia (from just one dose) but it didn't have the nice serenity effect on me anymore.

Hope it works for you without side effects.

Last night my fingers started feeling tingly and my hands have felt like they are burning all day.  I called my nurse and she is probably from the fluoxetine and not the Complera.
Has anyone else had this happen?

Thanks,
Snow
