Anyone Have Luck with Colon Cleansers
« on: May 11, 2007, 05:39:45 pm »
Has anyone had luck with a specific brand of colon cleansers? I keep hearing about keeping your intestinal tract clean and healthy and wondered if anyone had luck with starting with a specific cleanser. I looked at Fleet's soda one for colonoscopy cleansing. It was $21.99 for a box.

Just Asking!

Clean and healthy is an interesting comment.

What is a Clean Colon? What is a Healthy one? Are they one of the same?

So I'm really going out on the speculation side of things, I am not a doctor!

I do believe that a Healthy digestive tract is critical to resisting HIV. Even to the point where the health of the intestinal track improoves our ability to keep HIV from mutating on a drug program, essentially, allowing a long treatment time on a single combo before HIV resistence forces a change.

Having a healthy colon is therefore the discussion, and I truly invite commentary.

In my mind a healthy colon is "clean" by the virtues of Food being processed efficiently and effortlessly and eliminated completely or regularly.

A healthy small intestine has ample bacterial stores to do what the intestines do, break down food in to nutrients for the intestines to absorb and pass into the cirulatory system.

Cleansing the Colon is an interesting question. If I eat a sufficient fiberous diet combining the virtues of Water Soluable and Insoluable fiber, produces efficient elimination would be preferable to using an agent that may infact irritate the bowel via a soaplike or detergent like agent.

I would be concerned that the PH of such fluids would have to at least be nutral the the PH condition of the colon before even considering regular use of a cleansing agent. If the cleansing agent's PH were to be more base or acid than the colon, wouldn't that in fact be a irritant, or potentially one? Of course if the bowel's ph were to be "off" would the cleansing agent help restore PH Balance.

I truly don't know how a cleansing agent would in fact improve ones colon's health, unless there were issues that would make it preferable.

I think the key to a healthy colon is the use of:

Active Culture Yogurt or Probiotics to keep the bacterial count high.
Fiber, psyllium or oatmeal or the like.
and
Glutamine, something for the intestinal cells that make the cells function well.

Thoughts?

Of the many things that I have tried, the colon cleansers , is something that I never tried. I am just slightly leary about it.

One nurse, That I speak to at work , swears by them. It is not something that she does regularly.Maybe three times a year. I am not sure of the brand she uses. I will have to ask her.

I have to read up on it more, but for the time being, I am going to hold off !

Lady Di used to get high colonics regularly.  She called them her "Pamper Diana Days"

Springtime is a good time to do a full body cleanse.. It's a good time to get rid of material that tends to cling to the colon and makes it difficult for you to properly absorb nutrients and vitamins in food and suppliments.. I have used a few different herbs and suppliments for cleaning out the digestive tract.. Herbs such as black walnut and wormwood are good at killing parasites and bad bacteria, but they should be taken with caution. Most vitamin stores have colon health sections with different colon cleansers available.

Remember to replenish your colon with pro-biotics such as acidophilis. It helps to keep your colon smiling =)

look in your area for someone doing colonics; the boxed version will never get you the same results

for that matter, its just as well to include some psylium seed husk in your diet - a glass of Metamucil morning and night will help move crap for you

I'll bet most boxes of whatever rely on pyslium primarily

Morning,

I was speaking last night at work to the nurse that uses the colon cleansing product. The one she recommended to me, Is made by ROEX. She believes it is a very reputable company. This is the product she swears by. The product name is called " WOW" . You can do a search and get more information. The product calles for two capsules a day, ( but it can be increased.)

Once again, I have never done these type products. So  I am not sure what these products effects may be on someone on meds.

Just google ROEX and then, their product line, for more info.

Risred: "I truly don't know how a cleansing agent would in fact improve ones colon's health, unless there were issues that would make it preferable."

Seems logical that scrubbing out one's intestines is apt to cause more problems than encouraging healthy innards with such stuff as yogurts and etc.????
