have i lost my mind?
« on: November 15, 2006, 07:27:54 am »
Guys,

Back in 2004 I had unprotected sex with a girl of unknown status,

I tested negative 7 weeks rapid 13.3 weeks rapid and 5months 3 weeks and a few days rapid. I live in Ireland and the tests used apparently where murex rapid HIV 1 2 o and p 24 antigen? What generation of test is this? Is it a good test?

2 of my samples where also send to labs for Elisa tests as well?

The problem is since then I have dermatitis so does my partner, diarrhoea, head aches, I have has strange problems with my skin, my hair is starting to go grey chest infections. I also just had a full blood work all fine bar high billirubin in liver; the doctor said it was not anything to do with hepatitis as all other liver tests where ok! My partner has all of the above too except billirubin! I am 25 this happened to me when I was 23

Do I need to test again? Will this disease crop up and bite me in the ass in a few years when I am having a child with my partner?

Can I accept 5 months as a reliable result?

Also my partner donated blood 3 months ago and never heard any problems, she does not know of my testing as my unprotected encounter as outside of the relationship

Thank you

Scared,

Your seven week negative was unlikely to change, your 13.3 week negative was conclusive and your 5 month 3 week test was overkill. You are absolutely, conclusively hiv negative.

As for the physical things that are making you worry, see a doctor about them. Whatever is going on has nothing to do with hiv. You are hiv negative.

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

scared,

None of these things are hiv related. You are absolutely, conclusively hiv negative.

See your doctor about your stomach problems. They're nothing to do with hiv.

Guys

Posted here a couple of months ago! I am going mad; I tested neg out to 5.3 weeks for HIV after unprotected encounter in 2004. Since then I have became engaged with my fiancé and I have been consumed by the fear of been infected and of infecting her.  Now my health has just gone to the dogs and my fiancé seems to get a lot of the things I get. We have both dermatitis diarriah headaches everything you can name! We never had anything like this. My fiancé gave blood in September as she regularly does and has heard nothing back from them but they do write and tell you if there is a problem and now there is a letter in our old home for her but I don’t know where its from I fear its from blood bank with bad news I am going crazy I know I am sorry guys.

My hair has started to go gray from stress I am 25 spending all my time on the net researching hiv for hours and hours I have am completely consumed

My only way out of this is to test tonight after 2.3 years of this torture

Am I loosing my mind?

Please help!

scared,

I've merged your new thread into your original thread - where you should post all your additional thoughts or questions. It helps us to help you when you keep all your additional thoughts or questions in one thread.

If you need help finding your thread when you come here, click on the "Show own posts" link under your name in the left-hand column of any forum page.

Please also read through the Welcome Thread so you can familiarize yourself with our Forum Posting Guidelines. Thank you for your cooperation.

According to your first post, you tested out to 5.3 MONTHS, not weeks as you state in today's post.

A 5.3 month negative is more than conclusive. You did not become infected with hiv through your unprotected incident. You are hiv negative and it's time to move on with your life. If you have physical problems that are bothering you, you need to see your doctor. Whatever is going on has nothing to do with hiv.

Ann
