Recent encounter

All,

You've probably heard all this before, but I can't find a similar post in the archives so here goes ...

I'm aware of how HIV is transmitted (infected fluids into the urethra), so being the sensible boy I am, insisted on safe sex all the way during a recent encounter.  This is what happened.

The girl started with a hand job, moved onto a protected blow job, and then protected sex.  The condom, didn't burst or spring any sort of leak, so I'm happy I'm not at risk so far.  However, I'm a bit on edge about what happened after that.

As I was keen to check the condom, I took it off carefully, and then squeezed it to ensure that it didn't leak, thus covering my hand in the her fluid from the outside of the condom.  I then, without thinking,  used the same hand to clean my penis with a paper towel.

The girl was a sex worker, who claims to test every three months, and was negative at the time of her last test.

What are the chances some of her fluid from the condom transferred to my hand and then into the mucous membranes in my cock.  All in all it took about 1 min from pulling out of her, to taking the condom off, examining it and then cleaning myself.

Thanks in advance of any advice given.

All that reading about what is risky and what isn't doesn't seem to have helped you out in realizing you weren't at risk during this incident.

You did the right thing. You used a condom for intercourse. Condoms provide very effective protection. That's the bottom line in relation to this incident. All the rest is irrelevant as far as any risk for HIV is concerned. And nill for risk.

What I suspect is the real issue in this situation is that you were with a sex worker. Somehow guys seem to think being with a sex worker automatically means you're at greater risk. Of course that's not so. As long as you consistently use a condom for intercourse it doesn't matter if you are with a civilian or a professional.

You have no cause for concern about HIV in relation to this incident. End of story.

Andy, What you say is correct.  The fact that the girl was a sex worker did have some influence on my thinking, but I think I would have a had a mild panic no matter what.

The risk as I saw it was that there was a possiblity that sexual fluids (infected or not) may have come into contact with the mucous membrances in my penis albeit outside of the body.  I guess what I was aksing was where are the mucous membranes which are suscpetible to infection, and was transmission possible out in the open like this.  That was where I saw some risk.

Thank you both for your speedy responses.

As long as you used a condom for intercourse with the head of your penis covered you were protected.

Uncircumcized men are at greater risk during unprotected intercourse because of the skin of the inside of the foreskin. Otherwise access is through the urethra and that's why condoms are very effective.

You weren't at risk in this incident. Period. The skin overall on your body is an excellent and strong deterent to transmission.

You are worrying needlessly.
