Scared by resue of LANCET needle for HIV test
« on: October 11, 2013, 09:24:40 am »
Hello

i went to HIV center to take Rapid test 2.5 Months back.

The test Result was negative...  but  suddenly after few moments thought came in my mind that  does she changed the neddle or not while testing.

The needle used by her in Lancet.

After that i get tested myself again after 6 weeks and result is negative.

As i read that the confirm results can only get by 90 days.

Does there is any risk to get infected by reuse of lancet needle.

I am scared because at that center testing done only for HIV/ STD.
Please help me out.
Lots of thanks in advance!!!

Dear All,

2.5 months back i went for Rapid HIV test after 6 months of exposure  and that suppose to be confirmative test.

Test result was negative   but  suddenly one bad thought came in my mind that does the nurse has replace the used needle or not while perform testing.

She used "LANCET " needle to prick my finger.

Does thet is any risk.. if she resue the same lancet needle twice.

I am scared as that center is specifically for HIV/ STD testing.

Please help.

You have used your 3 free post to ask the same questions , something you would not have done if you had read our posting rules in this forum . Please do not post outside of this tread again and do not start another .

HIV is fragile and is not viable the moment its exposed to oxygen , you did not have a risk and no one has ever been infected in the manner you are concerned with .

HIV testing centers are not in the business of doing things that can lead to HIV infections . You did not have a risk even if the lancet was used ... and I think you will know yourself once you stop and think about that its really unlikely a HIV clinic would do something like reuse testing equipment .
